The War & Peace Show has moved.
I know some of the people on here are also fans of this military extravaganza, so I thought I'd share the news.
After 25yrs at Hop Farm in Paddock Wood, talks have broken down. Next year's show (now called The War & Peace Revival) will be at Folkestone Racecourse...

Let's hope the new venue is as good as (or even better than) the last.
Elaine.

Yes, we have to go... just to check out the new venue, mind!
Not sure if we're going with a stall, or just public camping again,

Sounds like they finally got fed up with Hop farm like the Southern Mini Days did.
Before the new owners took over those camping used to get free entry into the small kiddies animal area, then they made us pay ontop of the camping and entrance fee. They were the loosers in the end.
S mini Days has been at Bewl Water for a few years.

Re: The War & Peace Show has moved.
At the War & Peace Show you still had free access of the petting farm, hall of mirrors, wax works, etc. We always had a good laugh using them, especially when Reg walked straight into a mirror, and I could hear him screaming that he was lost and couldn't get out!
It was the toilets & showers that started the argument... Up until about 3 or 4 years ago the toilets & showers in the camping area were absolutely immaculate, they were cleaned every 15mins.
THEN the owners of Hop Farm decided that Rex & Barbara could no longer arrange them for the event, Hop Farm would organise them instead. OMG we were horrified (thankfully we always take a portaloo & solar shower when we camp anywhere though).
The foreign visitors were even more disgusted Remember, we're all camping there for a week, and many folks had travelled hundreds of miles to the show, many in really sloooooow military vehicles.
Needless to say that we all complained big stylee, and I even wrote a letter to Rex saying how disappointed we were. He replied personally, explaining that Hop Farm would no longer allow him to arrange these facilities...
The dirty cesspits continued, and people started ticking the 'Dirty Toilet & Shower Blocks' box, for the reason that they would not be camping at next years show. Rex said he would do something about it, and it seems that he has.
Really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed, the venue works well,
Elaine.
