A glorious weekend
Tony started it off on Friday by removing the head on Taz's engine, replaced the valve seals. Got it back up and running again in two hours.
Sat am, reset tappets and timing then set off to take the towing dolly over to Deb and Colin's so that they could bring Woodstock over here today.
Sat eve. Sat at comp and explored the GLASS site to see if there were any local green lanes. There looked to be a couple of short ones a few miles away so checked google maps sat images. They appeared to exist with one exception. (technology is a wonderful thing!) Tony then realised that we did actually have a local OS 1:25000 scale map and I checked their exact location and rights of way on that (paper still has its place)
Sunday arrived with blue sky and bright sunshine. Colin, Deb, Charlie and Maisie arrived and we set off in search. The weather was truly wonderful, the scenery breathtaking ( and I've lived around here for ... well since I was born and I had never been along most of those roads!) The first of the lanes we explored - initially on foot (good job too ) was a little too much for the Scamps . but all of the others were fantastic! One was a little easier than the others with fantastic views from the top, the others varied in terms of accessability - but were great fun. The last one we explored was definately the best in terms of a challenge. Tony had just commented on the fact that the lane was getting a little wetter when we turned the corner to find ... a stream. Not running across the lane, but running along it We got out to have a check - and decided that it was doable. Taz first, then Woodstock. Back up the hill the other side and on to the road. "Again!" came the call from Charlie! Never being the sort of people to disappoint a child - particularly when it suits them - Tony and Colin turned the Scamps around and back we went - knowing what to expect so with a little more speed! We finished off going back along the easier lanes on the way home. We have had one brilliant day It really couldn't have been better.
For the locals out there - they are near Quatt and Alveley.
Colin and Deb have now left us to travel home Can't wait for Easter!
See lots of you then.
If we can work out how to put pics on here, we will load some up.

Re: A glorious weekend
Easy fix, fuel pipe had somehow got caught and wedged the throttle open. Good to see Fred Howard again, he brought along 2/3 scale Mk3 he made about 10- 12 years ago, it got alot of interest.

Re: A glorious weekend
Dave, The orange beasty would enjoy a trip back over here. It was only about 15 miles from its last home - and you can pick up that other fuel tank! Will take it to the Peak district.

Re: A glorious weekend
If it helps both parties, then you can bring fuel tank here when you collect dolly, Tony. Dave can then collect from here (or we could deliver at a good price!!). Just that I remember Dave saying unsure if able to attend Peak District.
Dont want to interfere - just try to help.
