The Icelandic Volcano thingy
A Leicester Mercury reader's take on it!
I did comment to Reg on Tuesday that I'd seen a Chinook flying around, very slowly, and very low, possibly landing... To which he replied that he'd seen a Griffin doing just the same!
Elaine.
Conspiracy!!
Where is this mythical cloud? We can't see it from earth and they can't see it from space.... Every plane is grounded yet aviation authorities say test flights are absolutely fine and it is all rubbish. If Gordon Brown is sending the Navy to pick people up, then planes will be grounded for at least another 3-4 days minimum...
So.... What is going on?? Volcanoes have gone off in Iceland many times, Etna and Mt. St Helens have blown too, yet planes have never encountered a problem. One plane went down in 1982 but the conditions were very different.
This is clearly a smokescreen (pun intended) for something else. The Polish president's plane crashes, all the world leaders were ready to attend his funeral, then ALL the planes get grounded - coincidence??
In the last few days (during the volcanic storm) the UK Terror Threat level increased to EXTREME - meaning an attack is imminent. Coincidence?
Is there a terror threat and that is why planes are grounded? Is something else happening??
Problems:
The dust cloud we’ve been told is not “visible”. The reason the met office gives? It’s hard to detect because of high level cloud, so satellite imagery can’t pick it up. Also, because of low level cloud, the cloud can’t be seen from the ground. Last night, it was completely clear – nothing in the sky but bright stars.
The various news channels report that all airports will be closed – apart from in “emergencies”. Later on in the day, we’re told that Air Ambulances across the south are grounded. Does this answer any questions people might have about military aircraft they see flying around at this time? Thinking the reason they’re in the sky is for emergency reasons?
Like clockwork, all of the airports shut down – starting in the North of the UK, working South. Surely if they can’t track the cloud, as they say, they should shut them all down at the same time? How can they be absolutely sure that by closing down Edinburgh airport, but leaving Manchester open, a relatively small distance away, they’re not putting lives at risk?
There are many odd things happening at the moment with this ash story. Just bare this in mind though: The first stages of war against another country – secure communications, and secure the movement of people.
Is this a training event for something that is to come?? Or is there a nuke on a plane and they don't want to cause a mass panic?
I don't believe what I read.

Re: The Icelandic Volcano thingy
There is no erupting volcano - its all CGI - I would have laughed if the 747 that Wlly Walsh was on yesterday had to make an emergency landing cos the engines quit - everything is driven by money and BA are losing shed loads so they are shouting the loudest - how many earthquakes and erupting volcanos have there been lately - more than usual ? I watched 2012 last week makes you think doesn't it - take care may your God go with you

Re: The Icelandic Volcano thingy
Well, it's been unusually peaceful here in the Luton Airport SRZ, and the skies haven't been so clear in fifty years without jets to scribble all over it.
Maybe they should do it more often.
Maybe it's the result of climate change and they will.

Re: The Icelandic Volcano thingy
Oi, I heard that
As everyone knows the Forces budget is being squeezed.
They have had their initial training and continuity training budget cut to save money.
The same thing happened during the Kosova war. Strike Command (the ones that shoot and bomb 7 shades out of the nasties) almost went bankrupt.
As far as smoking billy goes, up til the nineties the RAF used to have a Herc called Snoopy. It was painted red and white with a long nose (settle) and it was a weather detection aircraft. Another good bit of kit that they got rid off.

Re: The Icelandic Volcano thingy
No offence intended Rob but everyone knows the RAF are Nine to Fivers in peace time. Flying at the weekend just isn't sporting, they have mustashes to wax don't you know.
Only the RAF would have a plane just to tell them it was raining. I heard that they got rid of the weather detection C130 when the MOD had saved up enough milk bottle tops to buy a radar, though the squadrons do have to share it on a rota basis.

Re: The Icelandic Volcano thingy
Didnt you know that they still have to use most of the obsolete aircraft on a daily basis anyway.
