Not posted for a while, Scamp now MOT'd and taxed and road legal, trouble is, not sure if it's the big wheels and tyres but it doesn't like top gear on the open road.

What engine does it have in?......when I first built mine it had a 998 A+ in it which I had tuned to cooper spec (55bhp) but it was originally from a city -E which meant it had a 2.95 final drive ....as you are describing with yours top gear was always a struggle with any kind of hill at all as I had 12 inch wellers on.... worth checking the final drive unless you know what it is any way?

The engine is a pretty unknown object, 998cc from whatever, was lying about in someones garage, would expect it to be fairly standard tune, revs freely enough and drives ok up through the gears, but has very little power on the open road.
Probably just cant cope with the bigger wheels

If the engine and box is standard, "Gussworks" has it with 3.105 diff.

When I got mine it had a 998 in it with 13" Wellers.

I thought it drove well until coming up behind another vehicle and had to ease of and then over take it was sluggish.

It turned out to be the advance / retard in the dizzie. It moved ok when checking the timing but was failing under pressure.

...I just moved on to and got addicted to 1380cc torque .....
