Hi Everyone,

I'm currently trying to model a Wooden Hustler (both 4 and 6 variants) from a partial set of plans. As I'm now making a lot of guesses I'm hoping someone may know someone who has a complete set of plans, or the bits I'm missing. The pictures are as far as I've got, light brown and grey are all guessed parts. Any help greatly appreciated.

Your Eminence (Rtd),

I don't have a set of plans, but as someone who works with wood all day long and who's Father was a Coach Builder, please keep us up-to-speed with your progress. I'm guessing that the major part uses Marine Ply?

One thing to keep in mind is that unless making this is simply 'an interest', you'll need to think about how / if you'd ever get it registered (you may have a plan for this already for all I know), but the DLVA seem to have a plan to keep us off the road if they possibly can!

I wish you well, looks very interesting.

Des.

As a matter of interest, what's the scale (I infer from your use of the term "model" you don't mean a full size replica), and will you make the Mini bits or source them from a COST* model kit?

I ask, as once upon a time I embarked on a project to build two cars using a Tamiya 1/25 Mini Cooper kit. The body shell would have twin V8s implanted, the mechanical bits would go into a Mk1 Scamp with a polystyrene sheet body. I couldn't get the poly to stay flat though, perhaps I should have used balsa. At present they are both in my loft, together with other models whose completion is one of the 40 or so jobs on my lockdown To Do list.

Yes, the panels are all marine ply, some 12mm some 18mm. All the smaller sections (light brown) are 'Hardwood'

This is a 3D CAD model currently being created in SolidWorks. I can then make it available in a form viewable in Windows 10 3D viewer or other software. I may 3D print a small version (1/20th), but the main aim of the model is to see what load the frame can take before breaking.
