Re: What have you all been up to then?
Well, I'm at present in the throes of transforming my junk room (which it was never meant to be, it just sort of defaulted that way) into a computer and music room. The planned sequence of logistics is something like:
1. Take the one decent bit of furniture (antique cupboard) to sale rooms,
2. Set up and make guest bed downstairs,
3. Take old bed to the tip,
4. Sort junk room contents, move stuff to be kept into bedroom, take rest to tip,
5. Go shopping for paper and paint,
6. Resume the decorating job, started but put on hold about 30 years ago,
7. Go shopping for shelves and brackets and fit them,
8. Go shopping for new light fittings and install them,
9. Install telephone and ADSL cables under floor,
10. Go shopping for carpet tiles and hardboard underlay and fit them,
11. Go shopping for new furniture, mainly computer desks & filing cabinets,
12. Furnish room, move original contents to new shelves & cupboards,
13. Get computer network up and running in its new home,
14. Dispose of old cupboards etc. via Freecycle, charity shops or tip,
15. Go shopping for new bed.
At present I'm at step 4. I used a CAD program to fit everything in the bedroom, but somehow there suddenly seems to be a lot of other stuff that wasn't included in the plan.
Target is completion before the clocks change, when I switch to outdoor jobs. Wish me luck!

Re: What have you all been up to then?
Shed destroying/burning party last weekend, new shed building party will be starting Friday, the place stinks of creosote(and yes,we stockpiled some of that nasty stuff and have made it even more nasty by mixing it with some old engine oil, shed sould last a while but everything around it will probably die now!!).
Now the warmer weather has eventually got to us,the cat's seem to like the roof of the Scamp as a nest,so shotguns, misile launchers, hand grenades plus mines on the roof of the Scamp, have now been deployed.By the time the Scamp has it's first outing the roof will probably be in rags!!
Linda may have to go and have another op on her foot again as they seem to think they did not go deep enoughthe first time,I'll keep you posted as she has to go and see the specialist on Friday.
Daughter Kelly's bump gets bigger(she's pregnant)and her mad 1 year old Springer Spaniel,I am now certain, had part of it's brain removed at birth (or at least the bit that says STOP!),if you can catch a glimpse of him,as he is boucing off the walls at 90mph,he is a black and white Springer named Fonzie.
Work has been absolutely bonkers after cutting our MOT prices to compete with 3 local garages that had taken alot of our MOT trade.
If anyone wants any of the wiper blades I mentioned in a previous thread,I will purchase them and bring them to Stoneleigh, just tell me the length you require.

Re: What have you all been up to then?
I'm guessing she already takes him for long runs everyday, so it might be his food? Springers can go hypo if they're fed on the 'wrong' type. Tell her to go to a pet shop (such as Jollyes) and ask for a working-dog food that's for feeding when the shooting season has ended.
Or, we feed our Boxer, Sten on BarkingHeads it seems quite expensive, but it only works out at just over a £1 a day to feed him (and he's 5 and three quarter stones of muscle). Very good quality, so smaller portions required http://www.barkingheads.co.uk/for-dogs/ she could try that.
The only other food we'd feed him would be Orijen, but that's mega expensive....

Yep....Rolled it into the garage and then Rolled it on to its side
It's clearout time in the garage so that I can really get started.......on the Popemobile.
Yes, Yes, I've said it before......but I'm determined to get the thing built......
Not setting any deadlines....but I'm hoping to get it on the road before we run of petrol

Re: What have you all been up to then?
A month into the junk room transformation (although away on holiday for a week of that), and I'm still only as far as decorating and putting up shelves - steps 6 & 7 in the list above. I have to do these jobs in parallel, as there was too much stuff to stow in the bedroom so it's a case of (a) paint one side of the room, (b) put up shelves on that side, (c) transfer stuff from the existing shelves on the other side, (d) paint other side. Despairing of ever sleeping in my own bed again, I've found out that I actually hate decorating,
AND I NEVER WANT TO PAPER ANOTHER CEILING AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!!
So how're the rest of you getting on with your respective projects?

Re: What have you all been up to then?
Back garden's not far off done, the same goes for the back room.
Smash off concrete guttering & fit plastic, replace uPVC windows & door with oak ones, lift & relay floorboards in lounge, and garage rendering, all still to be done.
The MESS could be on the road within weeks, but I don't think we'll bother because it just wouldn't get driven enough this year...
At work, been very busy in the dairy - National Trust season. As well as milking the cows, feeding the pigs & calves, bottle feeding the lambs (only 5 thank god). No bedding down though, the cows are out in the fields.
And of course there's plenty of off-roading to do on 460 acres, so we're putting that to good use, esp the hilly, rugged bits!
Today's my day off, but I'm going up to trim (the sheep/cow dog) Rosie's hair - Think a belly dangling full of this shaped () cow poo winnets... Nice! And no doubt I'll end up staying for hours just mucking in.
Shorts on, the sun's out,
Elaine.

Mucking out
After leaving the Easter off roading on Mon pm, I had the Scamp MOT on Tues pm
Luckerly (bloody amazingly) i had not broken it off roading and the only major thing it failed on was the rear brakes - Hyd and Hand (as discussed at easter - muddy sludge doesnt make great braking). New shoes and adjustment and they were ok.
The steering wheel had verticle play up the shaft - got a thicker washer.
The pass seat belt release button pinged off............and with all the wetness at Easter the belts had shrunk............or was it my greater girth and the extra layers of cold/wet clothing - down to the scrappies and got a pair off Escort front belts, so now loads of room.
As far as the Scamp goes i am now quitting while i'm ahead.............its working, dont play with it
Down to my friend outside Brize Norton to start phase 1 of building a Chuck house and pen, which she has been after for years. Its taken that long to remove all the rubbish at the bottom of her garden. Phase 2 next week before comming back to prep for Stoneleigh.

Re: What have you all been up to then?
Linda's going in for her second op on Thursday so we are trying to get everything done in the garden before then.Cucumbers are in,tomatoes probably at the weekend. Will give the Scamp a once over if I get the chance to come to Stoneleigh.Gave the company with the dreaded Phaeton the bad news today, after having the injectors tested all of them have badly leaking seats and are unrepairable. The cost, well a measley £329.00 each and there's six of them!! It just makes you feel good to own a Scamp!!

What with the Icelandic volcano dust, and now us planning to do the guttering, no wonder you're having trouble.
