I hope you've don't get the honeymoon suite. We did and couldn't turn the spa bath off. Maybe it's still running!
Leanne appeared to like the mirrors as well.

Re: The February pub do
I think we need to have a discussion / meeting at the Pub do to
finalise what / where we are going to have our main event this year.
Thoughts / comments please.........Rob
I agree.......
Is there going to be a Stourport this year ?
Do we want to attend the IMM2009 as a Club ?
etc.

Re: The February pub do
Lads, lads, calm down you all have short memories, we were advised that the farmer is going to increase cost of the field this year from 250 pounds to who knows what, they would not say by how much when Nettie handed over all your dosh at last years picnic.
Several members thought we should find an alternative site to Stourport cos we have been going there for 7 years I think it is. Mike Smith's son goes to an offroad site not far from Stourport and we were hoping to get a report to see if it was suitable but we havn't.
There is nothing stopping you the membership looking and enquiring about possible sites there are 70 odd of you and only two of us and I'm 3500 miles away. I did discuss Stourport with Nettie a couple of days ago, I will mention it again tonight and ask her to ring Mike and if no joy ring the farmer and if the price is still reasonable provisionally book the field.
I know Stourport ticks all the boxes and new members think its great but the hard core die hards i.e. the usual suspects who attend year in year out to most if not all Scamp events if they can would like a change, same scenario with the Scamp Holiday i.e. Wales will still survive if we did not go back there again this year.
So guys I suggest you nominate someone at the Pub do to take charge of organising the Scamp 40th Birthday at the proposed venue Newark Kitcar Show, the theme that was put forward was the 60's.
The IMM Dave can't you sort that one out i.e. how much does it cost to book a stand or is it free?
I will report back later on Stourport.
Rick likes to go greenlaning so he has organised an event at Easter again - good on yer Rick.
So don't sit about waiting for someone to organise events - get out there and do it.

Re: The February pub do
Martin,
I just had a quick re-cap on the thread where you first raised the point about holding the picnic at Stourport again next year. I could only find 5 replies (yes, I know not many members of the club visit the forum) and they were all in favour of Stourport. Hell, I've been going to that site for nearly twice as long as the SOC, off and on and I ain't fed up with it...yet!
At last years prices, I think we had a fantastic deal and whilst I know money is going to be tight this year for many of us, a reasonable increase will not dampen my enthusiasm.
By the same token, if there are members "out there" who are bored with Stourport and have found another site that offers the same facilities as Stourport, I’d certainly still come along to the picnic.
Cheers, Jono

So if you lot can just hold fire till then we will be taking photos and details of the site this weekend..... Thanks Rick.

Re: The February pub do
Rick,
That's great, thank you for your efforts. However, I would still suggest that Martin/Nettie pursue Mr Stourport Farmer, so that we at least know whether or not Stourport is going to be available and at what price. We don't want to end up with nowhere if we don't act quickly enough. Look forward to seeing the picture and knowing the location. Cheers, Jono

Re: The February pub do
I'm all for other off-road sites but Stourport bank holiday weekend in the August sun? We'll in my opinion it can't be bettered, whether you go there to off-road or not.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Re: The February pub do
Just to say this isnt to upset anyone.
But we can still have Stourport for those that like it.. But like a old saying goes....you can keep some of the people happy some of the time, but you cant keep all the people happy all of the time.....
I am not personally a Stourport person most people can only use a third of the site unless you want to be breaking diffs and gearboxs,, its too hard for 2 wheel drive Scamp.. thats just my view, plus its a lot of money to hire the site..camping there isnt much fun with ports-loos, no showers or a pub nearby.
There isnt much there other than steep hill and trees.
We have been using the site since 2000BC or was it 2000AD I know its been a long time since Telford.

I am ringing the farmers wife today to see how much she is going to charge us this year. I have also had a phone call and an email from the loo people... they evidently need our business. When I have the figures I can look at how much we will need to charge and I will let everyone know.

Cheers Nettie.
Money's not really an issue to us, we treat the Stourport weekend as one of our annual holidays. And we know we'd spend a lot, lot more camping, playing in our cars, and having as much fun anywhere else on August bank holiday weekend.
One of the other pros of Stourport that I don't think has been mentioned is that the off-roading is well away from the camping area, so the mums & dads can relax a bit, and not have to worry about their kiddies getting run over (the same goes for the dog owners). And we have the whole place to ourselves.
Elaine.
Re: The February pub do
I know Stourport is our local site - very handy for us - but I have to say it was our first experience of scamping and we are hooked!
We would be sad to see it go and we would be quite happy to do more than one weekend away off-roading. So, do please look out for other places but please keep Stourport too if poss!
As for lack of facilities - no pub near by - last year there was a beer festival on in Bewdley during the weekend - a matter of 5 mins drive down the road! Plenty of pubs in Stourport itself and, if you are desperate for showers - Stourport swimming baths has some!

Stourport Update
I have just spoken to Pat's daughter at Conney Green Farm. As I suspected I booked it up last year on the Friday when I arrived so no one needs to panick that we have lost the site. She has said she will get her mum to ring back about the cost for this year.
