That's been up on the Bay for a few weeks, I can't quite decide if it's genius or complete sacrilege

I know what you mean, some blinding classics have been sacrificed to create it.

I tend to look at it that some parts of classic cars still get to live on, where they would probably just probably rust away.
I blame the modern 'throw away' attitude promoted by modern car manufacturers. If it survives to the end of the warranty its considered scrap. This is the downside to the technological revolution. Gone are the days of KISS & being able to repair yourself. Common sense is being replaced by OBDC diagnostics & invalidated warranties...Classic example is our works van, needs new front brake pads, discs are fine (common sense used). From main stealer £280 to change discs & pads, we can get the parts for £120, if we fit them this will invalidate the warranty...go figure !!!
Oops just realised i've been ranting......apologies

This is going a bit OT but there has been an EU ruling that vehicle manufactures can no longer invalidate a warranty if work is done on a vehicle outside their dealer network provided OE-equivalent parts are used and fitted to their procedures. This is being used by insurance co's to reduce the cost of repairing vehicles involved in car accidents at their bodyshops by substituting parts supplied by manufacturers with parts sourced direct from OEM manufacturers. This legislation also applies to servicing provided their servicing schedule is followed.
