That sounds great!
Just don't organise anything until I've Audi Turbo'd my Scamp, because its current 160bhp won't be enough!

I remember the idea of going to the Island discussed some years ago. Maybe we could look into it as an option for an alternate Scamp Holiday destination?

Sounds good. We live in North Wales so it's not too far for us, just need to get a Scamp back on the road!

Re: why dont the scamp club come visit the isle of man and get the feel of the no speed limet
Quite right Chaz when I was Pres I did look at organising an trip to the Isle of Man. Nettie and I popped over for a long weekend a few years ago, I even bought the Landranger map. Their rules on Greenlaning are different if I remember, the only thing against the trip was the high ferry prices which would have put most scampers off. There may well be some summer ferry deals, perhaps Mr Manx Scamp would look into the prices from his side of the water
PS Perhaps Reg could get the mountain road closed (like in Top Gear) to get a record run in his soon to be Audi Turbo'd Monster Scamp (is that a Monster coming over the hill - no its Reg)

Re: why dont the scamp club come visit the isle of man and get the feel of the no speed limet
IOM Steam Packet Company Summer 5 day short break offer car + 2 from £99 each way, any length special offer car + 2 from £119 each way - does not compare well with nipping over to France car + 4 from £29 still some Scampers might consider it, depends where people live taking into account the rising cost of fuel

As the idea of a French trip seems to have raised as much interest as a damp squib, this might be a good alternative,a fair way to haul Scamp over to the other side of the country(for me that is)to catch the ferry, but certainly worth looking at,it's a place I've never been to before. What would be the cost with a caravan?

Extract from another forum regarding taking your caravan to the IOM.
"Before we went, I came across several comments that it is not possible to take your caravan to the Isle of Man.
I am pleased to tell you that this is not true.
However, you do need to request to 'import concent' from the IOM Planning Dept. As long as you pitch on a recognised site, this consent is very easy to request, and not usually refused.
All you need to do is give at least two weeks notice, state your name & address, dates of intended arrival & departure and the campsite you have booked. They will then advise you of consent and send details to IOM Steam Packet Co.
'Import consent' is definitely not required for motor homes and campervans. Interestingly, I was also advised that 'import consent' was not required for my Gobur folding caravan. This suggested to me that folding campers or trailer tents would also be exempt.
The full contact details for 'import consent' requests are:
Planning and Building Control Directorate
Department of Local Government and the Environment
Murray House
Mount Havelock
Douglas
Tel 01624 685911
E-mail: Planning.DLGE@dlge.gov.im
Someone on that forum also mentioned £432 return for a car + caravan was quoted, so I'd leave the caravan at home Mr Westgit - 2 up and a tent is probably the best way
