Hello,
recently found the forum and wanted to show you my Scamp, I think its a Mk2 , I wanted to go for a racey look so made up a roll cage , then to match the looks me and my dad fitted a metro turbo engine so she goes much faster than she looks
Will be at rivera run in May and poss some other mini shows later in the year

Re: Turbo Scamp
Nice to see a Scamp on a circuit again - I bet the insurance is high (probably on his dads) suggestion lose the windscreen and see the lap times drop

Took the first quite I got £112.00 fully comp . the main reason is I am 29 but they weren’t bothered about the turbo just went on engine size
I am liking the idea of dropping the screen, its like driving in to a marshmallow when you hit 80 !

Re: Turbo Scamp
I really, really like that...with the possible exception of the front panel..but, hey..it ain't mine.
The concept of a decent engine pulling around "next to feck-all" of a car..appeals...to several folk on here ...Nice insurance quote...and I like the look on yer dad's face......top geezer.....make the most of 'em whilst they're still around....welcome.

And ramming a Cobra cause it was in the way!
Re: Turbo Scamp
Interesting concept - driving into a marshmellow @ 80 mph, if you can get it up to 88 it turns into a time machine - I can see a race coming on - your Turbo Mk2 and James naturally aspirated Mk2 (not on the public highway anyway, the SOC denies all responsiblity and all that) dam I wish I was 29 again

Its been a while
Having not posted since March when I stuck the Turbo engine in the sacmp I unfortunatly got carried away and managed to shear my crank ! , the good thing is about a week before this happened I got a read out of 99 BHP on a rolling road at 7.5PSI .
Going to get a new stronger engine capable of 120 + BHP in the next few months !
P.S looking forward to doing some shows again this year :-)
Cheers

That Racing Mk1 was a Mk2 and it was owned by Martin Bates,I have the transformation pictures from Mk2 to the racer. That's the Scamp that really p---ed off the Westfields and Caterhams at Stoneleigh one year by winning the slalom contest. He went on to buying his friend's (can't remember his name) Mk1 racer and entering it into a Kit Car racing formula(he got his name into Motor Sport Magazine - I have the clip). The chequer plated MK2 I have seen at L2B I think,it's very tidy.

Re: Turbo Scamp
Quick update.....
Managed to get a new Benross turbo engine, if anyone know about these you will understand what they can do !, it is 1293 with omega pistons, bored out combustion chambers and over size valves mean it can run higher boost, it also has a tidy piper cam and reprofiled crank balanced to 14,000 rpm, a clubman gt box with straight cut drop gears. I have not gone for an ECU so I am not able to run mega high boost but should be fine with 10-12 Psi . One of these engines with the ECU and 16psi ran at 185 BHP in a RR session , obviously I cant say if this figure was accurate but I will be happy with anything over the 100BHP !
Should have the engine in and running for Riv Run in a few weeks time

Looking good. We're hoping to get on with (Audi) Turboing Reg's Monster Scamp this year, I almost dread to think what horsepower he finally settles at...
