I don't understand what your problem with facebook is Rob? Problems only occur when users put their whole life on there, same as any other internet forum.

There's a lot of information mining going on in our social networks ... see recent (and not so recent) articles in New Scientist, I put links in another thread somewhere.

And just think: in a decade or two, where now we have ANPR cameras, automatic face recognition systems should be up and running. Just to make sure that a licensed and insured person is actually doing the driving.

Except that the way things are going, humans behind the wheel may by then be a thing of the past...

I joined to get my daughters Xmas photos one year.

Facebook then interrogated my Yahoo account and asked me if I wanted to be fiends with them all.
Later they then contacted me saying ***** is friends with your daughter ***** do you want to be friends with them,
Why the heck would I want to be friends with a total stranger.

Last year they then stated that they would have total full rights to ant photos that you put onto Facebook.
Now they are going to identify everyone in photos.
So now if you are in the background of a photo innocently going about your day you will be flagged as well.

Lots or just the one the police hold? Not going to class that as a 'problem'.....  
It's quite easy to keep your privacy settings private on facebook, and most of the stories you read about this sort of stuff is usually made up..... As for the photo rights bit that only applies to photos you put on as 'public', soooo if you don't mark them as public you have nothing to worry about.
