wheels &tyres to fit a mk 2
At the moment my mk 2 has 165/70/10 tyres and wheels .Im having extreme difficulty in sourcing any replacements. I want to replace them with say 12 " wheels is this possible? and are there any more sizes I can use? If there is please let me know, these tyres and wheel are stopping me getting on the road.

Your bog standard mini steel 12" are your best bet and are still in plentiful supply.
Alloys are ok as long as you get the cross section right ie the bolt on bit is in the center of the wheel and not on the outside otherwise they catch on the shockers (rear) or reduce steering. Ive tried spacers but you have to be carefull otherwise they do your bearings in.
It also depends on what you want to do with it, road or off road.
Mine came with 13" steel Wellers which are fine on the road, but didnt get the power to the wheels so i changed to 12" steel mini's and use HiLo's
I'll be at Castle Coombe in 2 weeks time, its not that far from you and there will always be some bargain second hand wheels.
I picked up 2 at the IMM for £25 with legal tread on them, these are on the front of my Scamp now

Mr Yates still uses 10" wheels all round on his Mk2 and he recently bought a couple of 10" tyres from his local tyre fitter in Cheadle, skinny 145's for £25 plus fitting Falkens I think he said (he has been known to cheat and use snow chains in the past when off roading).

I'm sure James' Mk2 has 12inch wheels that are wider than that so I would imagine you would have no problems with those.

Re: wheels &tyres to fit a mk 2
i got a set of 13" wellers which im going to use colway grass tracking tyres for off road use on the front.
but i have 2 decent mud and snows on 2 of them which i was planning on fitting to the back. unfortunatley they dont fit due to the tyres being so chunky.
does anybody know of any off road/ mud and snows with a smaller profile? or is it going to be easier to use 10's on the back or possibly 12's???

12" gravel/M+S tryes will fit on the back. 13" nobblies will need radius arms extensions and you'll also have to cut the back bit of your rear arches off like we did to 'Pea' many years ago.
Re: wheels &tyres to fit a mk 2
ahh ok cheers, il have to keep my eye open for a set of 12" wellers then. yea i knew that was my other option and wasnt too keen on it.
Do you meen the pea as in the mini shortie thats green and has the pea written on it???

Nice one Elaine.
Tom, It looks like you need to brush up on Scamp folklore. No doubt you'll be enlightened when you come along to a Scamp event.
