Birmingham Bash
Hi, Just a quickie...
I've only just looked at the events page on the site, & Kerching....the penny has just dropped .
Mike is the same guy who called in to look at Walle a few months ago. (Sorry, useless memory for names, photographic memory for faces)
Which of the numerous pubs do you frequent at the Bash ? As i might have a WALK up .
Yep Walle's new home is within spitting distance...Smeg, he's still SORN tho. (anyone with trade plates ?)
Regards,
Neil

Re: Birmingham Bash
Cheers for the info Nettie,
Looks like it's even closer to me...
I'll definately be popping in over the weekend (not saturday daytime, as i'm daddy all day).
Already got my membership form filled in, just need to raid the back of the sofa (or maisie's money box...hehe...) for the fee.
If anyone is in need of repairs or general bodging over the weekend, i've got a fully equipped garage (jaffa tape, araldite, axle stands, power tools, big hammers etc...) available, about 3 minutes drive from Mikes House. Postcode B47 5QE, house no 11, or look for the tarpaulin !

Re: Birmingham Bash
Still don't know if we can make it, Reg's dad hasn't been too well lately, so can't do as much of the work as usual. And my little sister got rushed into hospital on Saturday night............ in Wales where she's holidaying with her 3 kids and my dad, they'd only been there one night!

Re: Birmingham Bash
Found out on saturday that the ex is working on sunday, and wants me to have the munchkin on sunday !
And result....Maisie wants to see some more cars like walle...so we'll definitely be around on the sunday.
Unfortunately walle won't be making an appearance as he's still stuck on the drive, thanks to the lovely british weather !

LOL I think Mr J will be far too busy to skive.
As for me, my little sister was literally a few minutes away from death, the Leicester hopsitals had repeatedly misdiagnosed her. So it's probably a good thing that she was in Wales when she haemorrhaged......
She's still in Bangor hospital now, and will be for at least another week or so, which means there are 3 kids (6, 8 & 10) that need looking after. Their dad is a waste of space, so we won't be asking him for help.
I also want to crack on with my Scamp if I can. The man who had the fuel tank is back off holiday, so hopefully that will be finished soon. The only other thing really holding us up are the collars for the manifold, when we've sourced/sorted those the MESS will be finished rapidly!
I want to do a dummy run of the 15 mile route that I'm doing for charity as well. I know it's multi-terrain, but that's about it, and I want to make sure I'm wearing the correct type of running shoe.
We're also revamping the garden, and the whole of the inside of the bungalow needs a lick of paint, so as always my 'holiday' (if work don't call me in - swine flu an' all that) won't really be a holiday at all.
Oh, and the brakes on my Jimny want changing, so I've got to do that sometime soon as well.
TBH the only time I really tend to go out without Reg is when I'm with Kev or Chris, (jamming, fitness, shooting) but they've both recently got girlfriends, so I won't be seeing as much of them for ooooooh, I'll give it a few weeks!
Off into the gym to sweat it out before work,
Elaine.
Re: Birmingham Bash
Ok - just thought I'd ask anyway - hope your little sister fully recovers - can't you have the three kids at your place for a few days
Try doing 10 hour days out here in the dust and heat - someones got to do it

No way, not all three at once!
We shared them out last time she was rushed in (us, my mum&dad, and eldest sister) not sure what the rota will be this time yet.
Haven't you got bored of being a camel yet?

Hey stop it with the sales speak, I'll get the hump!
10 hours of sun? If thats a day and not a month I'll sign up right now!
I didn't know that england was the underwater city of Atlantis!
Re: Birmingham Bash
I have seen camels in 3 places while I have been here a couple in the desert when I got lost, a couple in the pit lane at the Dubai Autodrome 24 hour race (see the pictures in another post for proof) but most are stuffed and in the myriad number of souvenir shops, my normal working day is 10 hours but the sun shines longer than that and its getting hotter by the day.
Sorry I forgot they show camel racing on the telly most nights - utterly boring they seem to let them go off down the track jockeyless and follow them in 4x4's and some bloke rants on in Arabic about which one is in front and which one isnt?

Re: Birmingham Bash
Many thanks to Wendy and Mike for putting on a brill weekend.
I arrived on Sat morning along with many others who joined those who got there on Fri, the bar closed at 2.30am.
Sat pm saw a convoy going of to Evesham for an cake/ice cream by the river. James had Asparagas tips ice cream, his view on it is an anagram of "tips". Captain Slows lad had a piece of cake so large that even he couldnt eat it all.
On the way back home Mike found us a ford covered by about 10" of water, so we all went in and lined up for a photo shoot before Mike Bingham and Kieron decided to have a bit of a drive downstream (pass the snorkal)
Sat night had the annual procession into Brum for the Chinkie (eat as much as you can) buffet nosh, table for 40 please. Mr whippy ice cream on top of 2 pnts of Tettlies finished me off.
Sunday, Mike planned a visit to Gaydon Heritage Museum and a quick phone call before we went got us in instead for £5 instead of the ussual £10 (bargain) We greatly received by the event organisers, and had our own club line up. The actual event was for any 2 stroke cars and i thought we were weird
The evening concluded with Mike's BBQ extravaganzer (?) where all were fed and well watered.
Mon morning, Scamp time, Martin/Nettie and Robin/Elaine departed to Anglessey for a long walk.
The rest of us went for another ice cream to a camping center where we gave away some more of our hard earned money for items which we didnt know we needed. I'm sure Mikes got shares in the company .
On the way back we went via the ford again where Kieran went "Wheelie scamper bining", i'm sure photo's will follow. Colin and Tony had also found a green lane right by the ford, so most of us went for drive/passenger along it and after going through the sewage puddles we were quite glad to get back to the ford and was the muck off the Scamps.
About 5 the rest of us departed and left Mike and Wendy to some peace and quite.
This weekend was notable for several things, firstly SUNSHINE
secondly the club carried on the same as Stourport with a great attendance
I got home about 6 and just got my Scamp covered up as the rain started.
Again, thanks for a great weekend to Mike and Wendy, and the Portaloo company

Agree with everything Rob said - What a weekend!
Thank you Mike and Wendy.
Well, Rick said he had ordered the rain for the weekend before so that we could have good weather this weekend and it worked. You've got my vote Rick!
A truly wonderful weekend with wonderful weather, fantastic food, charming company and super scamping. (Unusually for us - Taz got back in one piece! - ok he did have to have one repair whilst we were there!)
It was great to see everyone and we are looking forward to Newark.

A great weekend had by all (apart from my tonsulitis!)
11 Scamps! in attendance, Harriet could play with all the other kids in complete safety and as always the trips out in convoy were superb, as was the Chinese meal and the BBQ.
Many thanks to Mike & Wendy for putting on a sterling weekend.

Re: Birmingham Bash
I'm really sorry I had to miss it. I spent the weekend shifting damp cardboard boxes, containing junk other people's treasure accumulated over twenty years, from the back of a lockup to the new garden shed. Fortunately, the boxes I standardized on many years ago are just the right size to fit into stacking crates, thus overcoming the problem of soggy bottoms.
Sorting is now in progress, and I'll be bringing some autojumble to Newark...
