Bubble Car Museum weekend?
There's a little Bubble Car museum up near Sleaford, Lincoldshire. They have a caravan/campsite, showers, WCs, electric hook up and loan of a BBQ FOC.
Oh, and a pub down the road.
I thought it would make a nice venue for a Scamp weekend later in the year. Thoses wanting to go off green laning could do so and those that didn't could come with me on a tour of Lincolnshire's fine RAF/airfield museums.
If you think it's a goer let me know and i'll set to and organise it.
P.S. Southerners please note, It's a lie! You don't get nose bleeds when you travel higher up than the Watford Gap!

That sounds like a good event, Chris just bring up fresh peas, as when you are fitting your snow chains on at Watford services your peas will have frozen by then. I got used of it up here now, I just say in doors now..

Or is there a Darker side and your up for Blagging a PEEL or simular for the "New Charriot mk2", hmmm another Crazy Car for a Tiny Tot :0)

Dont know which weekend is good for me as work is just about to re-roster us
Its either that or Oct, or are we keeping that free for another off-roading / green laning session

Re: Bubble Car Museum weekend?
I'm thinking of July as well Rick.
a couple of weeks after Newark would be nice and the weather should be Hot Hot Hot!
Or Not Not Not!
I'll get organising then!

Work and play
Just back to work today and the company still can't make up its mind. So i'm good for the first weekend in july, unless anyone thinks that this clashes with Gaydon Mini Show.
This is for Rick, i am contracted to work 26 saturdays and 26 sundays a year, for the rest i have to share with 5 others, so i have 33% chance of getting the Holiday.
I throughly enjoyed last picnic the year befores summer hol when we went up in the hills.
The problem isnt the fitness of my Scamp it is the fitness of my body. Having a knackered back, neck and at the mo shoulder the cold does not do it any good especially camping in April. I am actually off during that time and if i have got my Scamp Mot'd and my body is up to it i will attend for the day!
I also belong to another mini club so my time off is spread between them as well. I do take my Scamp to their events.
Jan 25 Stafford Mini Show
Feb 7 Pub do
Feb 14 M&N wedding
Mar
April
May 3 Newquay Mini Show
May 10 Himley Hall Mini Show
May 23 B/ham bash
Jun 20 Newark
Jul 4 Bubble car
Aug 4-10 IMM
Aug 28 Picnic
Sep 13 Stanford Hall Mini Show
Sep 26 Castle Coombe Mini Show
Oct Malvern Mini Show
Nov
Dec Scamp Xmas
Dec Mini Club Xmas
And my work are going to change my shift pattern , now can you see why i am pee'ed off

Re: Bubble Car Museum weekend?
Count me in. But if you would like to pull costs in a little then I am willing to have everyone stop at mine FOC. It's only 20 mins from the museum, really good pub 45 seconds walk excellent beer and really really good food but the food is not cheap. Plenty of room in the garden for 5 to 10 tents depending on size, no room for trailer tents tho I'm afraid. Book early for a room in the house. Plenty of hot water for showers and if you are lucky I might even have a door on the bathroom by then.
I can get a big gas BBQ here too (bring your own grub tho, sorry).
Historic Lincoln is 15 mins by car or a green lane called the Ermine Street is about 15 mins away too and this can be use to get all the way to Grantham (nearly)
Let James and me know what everybody would prefer to do.

So Rob try to work out if your going to suffer with those aches and pains plus excessive work.Treat yourself to a porter potti caravan nice an cosy for the retired types (over 40ish) comfy bed not that hard Cold ground no more damp clothes in the morning either. With regards to dates its bloody difficult when one says i cant make that we cant make this you end up booking it whenever. There is no pleasing everybody all of the time.Cant you plan a sicky Man Flu thats the worst kind!

Hi Rob
As if
My pay is made up of salary and shift allowance.
Up till this month if we had 1 day "sick " we would loose all the shift allowance (17%) for that week. , so if you had one day sick they then lost you for the complete week.
But they've just changed so now we only loose that sick day %
Not that i would take a

4/5 july or 18/19 july good for us. Would prefer campsite for demountable as we no longer have a tent to pitch in Chaz's garden

Sounds good to me Chaz,
I bet you've got a gate at the bottom of the garden through to the pub.
Was the pub at the top of priorities on the estate agents list?

Nope, out of the front door and across the road, it was just a happy coincidence that the pub is so close. But it is twice as far as the last house I owned, that was next door but one.
Elaine, there is more than enough room to put the demountable on my drive or there is a registered C&CC site about half a mile away, so that is push bike distance. I might even be able to sweet talk the pub manageress to let you put it in their car park for the weekend as another option.
I am only making the suggestion and obviously I will go with the flow.

Re: Bubble Car Museum weekend?
Thanks for the offer Chaz. Maybe we could do the Chaz's tour of Lincoln real ale Pubs one weekend? That would be a superb weekend!
I quite liked the idea of the Bubble Car campsite in July, it would be a bit of a holiday feel and it does look quite a nice set up there. Caravans and trailer tents are £7 per night and tents £5.
Besides, wouldn't it get a bit cramped on your drive? and I'm not to keen on pushing Caravans up your drive and down your garden.

Why don't you make a week of it? instead of going to Tywyn again, the museum, pub trek, greenlaning, offroading the possibilities are endless (only a suggestion)
http://thebeeches.info/
Nearby Camping and Caravan Club approved site, Elaine will like that cos we are members and she can organise some walks to get you all fit and also an opportunity for me to come back for a week and get some use out of our caravan

Re: Bubble Car Museum weekend?
We should all try to make this event, just decide what weekend in July? So all member fit and healthy, name which weekend? put it on the main Scamp web site?
its a thing everyone can attend if you are a Mini shower/off-roader/green-laner/ or just a camper or caravaner...

Now that is an idea
One of the oldest pubs in Lincoln has just reopened, I went in there the other weekend with the missus and they have 12 different real ales on hand pull pumps. Oh, and I think they have a larger pump too. There is also the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, lived here over 30 years and still never been in. Then at RAF Conningsby is the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Tattershall Thorpe has the Thorpe Camp Preservation Group and at East Kirkby there is the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. Also in Lincoln is the Transport Museum.
Re: Bubble Car Museum weekend?
If I'm having my summer holiday its going to be at the seaside.
Besides, what is the issue with Tywyn? we could hold the Scamp holiday anywhere in the UK and it would be the exact same people that attend. Even you and nettie came along last year after saying on the previous forum that you'd never go to Tywyn ever again. I seam to remember that was why we found an alternative campsite near Fairbourne in 2007.
God! I wish I'd have just arranged this weekend and asked Steve and Chris to publish it rather than mention it on the forum, I'd have had less grief. Maybe i shouldn't bother at all you'll only winge about it afterwards for the next three years.
