There's a very brief mention of SOC 40th Aniversary in the Complete KitCar Mag.
It also mentioned the JAGO OC 40th Aniversary.

Yep.....its Minidave from Bournemouth Mini Club !

He did post on the previous forum.

I met up with MiniDave during the summer whilst on Holiday.

On Friday Evening, on the quayside at Poole, they have a car event......one week Minis, next week British Classic Cars, sometimes VeeDubs, etc. I introduced myself.....as you do Embarassed

I also got talking to a Guy who'd just bought a Nomad and wanted to know a bit more about it.....unfortunately I don't think he wanted to know as much as I told him.... Sleep Laughing

Speaking of Nomads.....mine's being moved to the new house at the weekend.....that's 3 homes it's had and it's still not finished (oops)!!

Does anyone fancy scanning the page so my ego can have a look or will I have to go to the WHSmith Library like everyone else? Very Happy

Superb!

They used that photo last year in their Newark Show report. It's a shame that they haven't made use of Dave's hard work. Maybe they will in a future issue.

No doubt they'll do an article on Scamps & Jagos at some point.

Heres hoping. Very Happy

What I don't understand is that I sent a high resolution photo of the line up at the Picnic and a club write up at Ian Stent's request - where is it ? and what has been written is wrong? the SOC has not been going 40 years its the SCAMP thats 40 years old and I thought Dave was sending stuff to the Mini magazine?

What a pointless excercise Rolling Eyes

I've only sent stuff to "Mini Mag"......

It will be interesting to see if they use what we've sent and/or whether they put their "view" on it.

Let's see what we get in there .....then we can always contact Monty Watkins at Mini World.

Carla - That would be good .....maybe we keep our powder dry until a little later in the year......then hopefully we can generate interest throughout the year.

Ooh now there's two I've not seen before. Must keep eyes peeled.

I can't make any guarantees but I can at least check if they are willing to give up space in the mag for an article etc. As you say, maybe let the season pick up a bit.

If we leave it much later the "season" will be over.

The March edition of Mini World magazine is already out.

I think we need to have a discussion / meeting at the Pub do to finalise what / where we are going to have our main event this year.

Thoughts / comments please.........Rob

As it's a 'Mini' magazine, the first show in the Mini calendar hasn't happened yet. So the season in those terms hasn't kicked off yet! Razz

I haven't seen the finished article..........yet, but I'm hoping for a few column inches.

Mention in Complete KitCar Mag Empty Further update on Complete Kitcar magazine

Post  Martin & Nettie Thu Jan 15, 2009 9:33 am

On 15 Jan 2009, at 04:06 (UK time), martin spindler wrote:

Good morning Ian,

We are a bit dissapointed that after sending you details of the club and a high res picture neither were printed in the latest edition, did we miss the deadline? according to other SOC members the photo you printed is the same picture you printed in a previous issue?

You did not even get the details right the Scamp Owners Club is not 40 years old its the Scamp thats 40 years old.

Not the best way to promote your mag and the Kitcar scene.

Reply received today from Ian Stent,

Don't be disappointed, the piece that's in the January issue has nothing to do with what I emailed you about and was finished before we'd even emailed each other. Please tell your members to keep an eye open for the next issue (Feb issue) which is in the shops tomorrow.

Contrary to your assertion... this is the best way to promote our magazine and the kit car scene - you should know by now that we work harder than any other title to do just that. Shame on you!

Regards,

So nip off to your local WH Smiths tomorrow and look for the February issue of Complete Kitcar magazine (it won't be on the top shelf) let me know what you think bounce

Got it sat on the sofa. They have used the line up photo from last years picnic and made mention of Mr Bridger's Italian Job run as well as the picnic, Wales holiday and last years Derbyshire event.

Sorry, can't scan it as I haven't got a scanner.

But I'm sure if we keep the polite pressure on Ian Stent and co will continue to put little bits in about the club.

Maybe one of our number could put their car forward for use as an article that the Mag could use?

Mention in Complete KitCar Mag Empty Complete Kit Car Article

Post  Mk3rob Tue Jan 20, 2009 7:18 pm

Well i just spent £3.95 of my hard earned and for what??

A 4"x4" 2 coloumn article in the club profile pages.

it mentions last years picnic, Derbyshire, welsh holiday and a good plug for Mr Bridger.

It doesnt mention the Scamp 40th, which i thought was the point of contacting the magazine.

What a waste of time and dave's efforts.
