whos doing what, to their Scamp?
Hello you keen Scampers..
Its that time of year to wonder out into the garage, in the dark evenings when there sod all on TV...
Who is doing what, to their Scamps ...Lets us know?
This could be interesting to see..
I have heard that there is going to be a big engine in Regs Scamp, anyone else?

Re: whos doing what, to their Scamp?
Morning,
Once i've got little 'Wale' rewired, and actually moving under his own power, i've got a major overhaul planned.
All box section welds to be ground smooth,
Most Aluminium panels to be replaced, some to be replaced with flush welded steel ones,
Refit & wire up towbar,
Rollbars to be removed, & new Landy style rollcage to be made,
Rear to be bulkheaded in to make back a true pickup,
Doors to be removed & new style ones made to suit new positions of rollcage, (doors are rusty around the steel sections, & seals are shot to hell, if anyone wants them to refurb, i'll hang on to them),
Removable roof section to fit over rollcage,
Removable rear section to fit between new bulkhead, roof & rollcage,
Windscreen to be fixed in place, sealed properly & hinges to remove,
Generally make the little scamp a bit more waterproof,
Clad the new pickup back (Ally Chequer plate),
Create some form of interior, possibly using more Chequer plate?
Make new bonnet, to try & seal my new fusebox,
Nearly forgot, complete repaint too.
After doing all of the above, if i've got time before my daughters birthday change the engine to a nice turbo diesel.
Damn, forgot my daughters 4th birthday is 24th Nov, sheesh maybe i'll finish for her 5th birthday instead...
I'll let you know if i've missed any little jobs out !!
Neil

The new Scamps engine is actually smaller and less (at the moment) powerful than the one in the Monster.
I really must get my finger out and finish the MESS.
Re: whos doing what, to their Scamp?
Over a year ago I bought a very low milage Metro HL 1300, the seats went up to Robin Grayson via John Haliday, the engine, at last came out and was successfuly tranplanted into Yellow Scamp a couple of weeks ago. Out came the ultra reliable 998 and in went the long legged 1275 from the Metro. So now, if I manage to do Italy again, I'll be able to keep up with everyone, even on the hills!

Hello, you keen Scampers, sounds like theres a few people being busy, Chris you are right about the trusty 998cc engines, but they havent got the staying power on the long runs, the little engines dont run hot and are smoother...the MPG is about the same on a long run, as they have to work a bit harder..
