SNOW TYRES
Years ago I bought some Colway remould snow tyres and had them studded, they were brillaint in the snow(I remember towing a ruddy great VW LT35 out of a snow drift with my Mk2 van),they were also brilliant off road. Anyway, last year, during the heavy snows I remembered that I still had them, got them out from behind the shed and hey presto 2 cullinders on rusty rims!! So,rather than go through the expense this year of hastally buying a monster truck(as I did last year)I though I would try and find some more snow tyres. Have you ever tried to find 12" snow tyres, they are like rocking horse watsits.I have,at last, found some and they should arrive on Thursday. They are Kingpin remould studable snow tyres and they cost around £32.50 each(inc.vat) + £5.00 delivery. They only do one size in 12" and that is 155/80 x 12.

Re: SNOW TYRES
Awesome! The only other 12" winter tyre is made by Yokohama and costs around £60 so you've got a bagain there.
I had to hunt for winter tyres for the 90. Most people that don't understand how winter tyres work tried to fob me off with all-terrains or even mud-terrains but in the end i've found someone who has a stock of proper Nokian (Finnish) tyres. Top Banana! :-)

Re: SNOW TYRES
Thought 4 tyres would be easier to find a place for than a ruddy great monster truck! Last year on this little corner daan saaf it kicked up prety bad,so the tyres are just a little insurance if it does kick off again. The tyres above are 10" Martin, they won't fit over my discs. My new tyres arrived yesterday and they look great, but,I thought they were going to be studable but it appears that they are not, still, good chunky M&S at a reasonable price, should get me around if the white stuff does decide to lay about down here.

Re: SNOW TYRES
The legal use of studs on the road in the UK is open to debate. Although they aren't fully covered in the C & U Regs there is certainly evidence of potential prosecutions by Highways Authorities for damage to the roads.

Bugger what they might do to the road surface - I had a pair on the front of Cyclops for off roading - boy were they hairy on tarmac

Re: SNOW TYRES
kingpin do a gravel tyre (old skool M&S nobbly) that retails for about £60. it's not reinforced but does last longer than a Hakka on stage but is know to de-laminate.
