My First Scamp to be rebuilt.

My First Scamp to be rebuilt.
I purchased this Scamp in 1986 to compete in autotests. I used it until 1996 when I completed my second Scamp which was a non road legal car and used specifically for autotests. This red Scamp was put in the back of an old mobile office (I cut the back out to get it in)in 1996. I took it out to change the smokey but fast 1330cc engine for a 1275cc Metro engine that I acquired (having been raced as a Metro banger at Braifield) in the late 1990's.
I am now looking to complete in Autosolo's where the car has to be driven to the event, so a tax exempt Scamp seemed a good idea.
So after 14 years I have finally started to rebuild this Scamp - I hope it won't take too long but who knows!
See my web page for more pictures.

Re: My First Scamp to be rebuilt.
Welcome to the forum, Roger.
That's an interesting motor you have there, hopefully we can look forward to seeing it in the flesh (as it were) when you get it back on the road. Nice to see, too, that I'm not the only one to go for Triumph Dolomite rear lamps.
That coil-sprung front end looks extremely interesting - if you're happy with it, would you let us in on how it was achieved? Maybe there's scope for an article in the magazine.

Welcome to the forum. That front suspension does look interesting.
I'm hoping to take part in auto solo events or trial events in mine when it's done
Good luck with the rebuild looking forward to seeing some rebuild pics.

Re: My First Scamp to be rebuilt.
Maybe the cone suspension is still there and the springs replace the shock absorbers cos those plates don't look man enough to take the strain - hang on a minute just blown up one of the pictures - the mini sub frame has been replaced with a bespoke box section sub frame - sneaky.

Re: My First Scamp to be rebuilt.
No mate. The exact opposite.
Superchaged MGB + 165/70x14 Kumhos + autosolo = lots of tyre smoke and black lines in odd patterns
You can't say i wasn't trying.
I'd have used the Sunbeam but it was on Dunlop moulded slicks at the time.
