Water leaks
Just sat at work wondering how many Scamp's are letting in water and if not many, how have you stopped it?

Re: Water leaks
That's not to bad. I remember coming back from Newquay one year in the rain and a mate of mine's freshly built Scamp. And the rain was coming down the inside if the screen as fast ad it was on the outside

Re: Water leaks
1 of the normal Scamp places for leaks (when your driving along) is the top of the windscreen to the roof.
If you dont want to take the roof off then loads of silicon does the job. If you do then a V-section length of rubber is needed, making sure the section opens out to the front.
Best of luck

Re: Water leaks
In usual british summer, i've been getting about 1" water inside the car, (crap doors & no seals) thats with the car on a slight nose down angle due to suspension settings.
In the pick-up back my record was 2" before it started leaking out of the tailgate.
My simple solution in the pick-up bit is this..., simply use the stainless centre bit & the plug, cut a big hole in the floor & attach to a plate underneath. Job done on a budget ! When it starts to rain at work i get some funny looks when i say i've got to pull the plug out in the car !

Re: Water leaks
I didn't bother with the overflow, just the stainless pressing, plug & chain
The interior will get better with the 4th version of door...already 3d modelled, but no time/light/money at the moment.

Re: Water leaks
about 12 years ago I have drilled a 6mm hole in the corner of the front floor to let the water out, thats enough to let water out and not to let it in on the use of the road, but when green lanning it works the other way, but it soon drains out when in comes in. a good pair of waders come in handy sometimes... don't let the northeners know it rains down south...

Re: Water leaks
I don't mind it coming in whilst off road just when it drips on my head when going down the road.

Re: Water leaks
As Mk3 Rob will tell you,it gets very interesting in a hooded Mk1 in the rain - at speed the water slowly works its way accross the roof(inside) until it drips down your neck, the other leak I get occasionally is good for cleaning the muck off your shoes as it dribbles off the dash and onto your feet! I think the words "rustic motoring" come to mind.

Re: Water leaks
As many will tell you, Tony has been talking about sealing our hard roof down and putting a sunroof in (!!!!!!) because of the rain that manages to force its way under the roof when driving at 50+. Wipers on the inside would be very useful in this situation and waders to help keep your feet dry! Having said that, Tony refuses to drive Taz with the doors on - and usually insists on having the soft top off too! - so most of the time, if it rains, you get wet.

Re: Water leaks
Well - lets face it, if you live in Cumbria, you can cope with a bit of water!!!!!
On a personal note - you will really have to take a drive on up the M6 to Penrith and meet up with Nic, She would love to see a fellow Scamper up there!

Tell me about it. Servicing Rally cars in 2" of water is not my idea of fun. No doubt the rain is booked for this coming weekend as well.
