Scamp Mk3 wanted
Hi all, this looks like a good forum to be on, full of entertaining types who seem to be able to have a laugh while also being enthusiastic about their cars!
To cut a long story short, I'm after a Mk3 Scamp (seeing Jono's GT on ebay got me back into enthusing about them). I think I'd prefer the none GT version with the lower sides, although I'm not too strict on that! I'd like a car that runs with an MoT and hopefully be paying less than a thousand pounds. Can anyone help???
Cheers,
Kurt

Re: Scamp Mk3 wanted
Hi, I have a MK3 for sale, it has been very well converted to a Rover Metro subframes, engine, brakes and bulkhead etc. The engine is a 1300. Interior has the metro dashboard skillfully fitted, with stereo and a wicked heater. Currently there is no mot, but should pass no probs after checking over. Florpans are perfect, as is the chassiss, cosmetically it needs sorting inside and out, but hey, thats the fun part right? The price is around the £1k mark but i am friendly and accomodating. you can get hold of me at simonstig@hotmail.com. Scamp can be viewed near JCT11 M25.

Re: Scamp Mk3 wanted
Well Atlantis if that is your Scamp, it isn't a MK3. It's one of Fred Howard's lovely scratch built projects.
This one was built on K-series Metro running gear and was originally a 8 valve 1.1 litre engine, though it may well have a 1.4 K fitted but certainly won't be a 1.3 as it's not an A series engine (despite what the log book says ).
The frame is panelled (in part) using old steel 'up and over' garage doors and know Fred will have some wonderful little details under the skin.
His other projects included A-series Metro subframed twin engined Scamps (one manual & one Auto!) and a 4X4 Scamp using two metro front subframes, a Marina engine & box, Suzuki SJ transfer box and two Triumph Herald diffs! And it had additional rear steer using a tiller!
Inspired!

Re: Scamp Mk3 wanted
All,
As my storage has been lost, I'm afraid I won't be able to give a Scamp a home in the near future. Crucially it was when I believe I'd found just the car. I have contacted the chap concerned. When the storage situation is sorted and I come back from an overseas tour I'll begin my search in earnest. Until then, keep on Scamping and all the best,
