Re: Bargain Mk3 on Ebay
Thats an interesting one, lots of Metro bits. Could it have Metro subframes ?

Don't think so, with "ajustable cone units with gas shockers"

Re: Bargain Mk3 on Ebay
I should have read the advert properly. Metro suspension would probably be a bit wide as well.
The only worry would be that it gets broken up as even the roughest Minis seem to go for more.

Re: Bargain Mk3 on Ebay
Is it a Scamp, or yet another copy? Very flattered, though. Apparently it's registered as a "Mouri" Scamp with a Mk2 chassis number. The front subframe mounts are not of original Scamp design, neither is the square, "angle-iron" windscreen frame and roll bars. There are other differences, such as the rear suspension cone mounting and the lower rear crossmember, though the fuel tank does look like a Scamp Mk3. Anybody know of its making?

Re: Bargain Mk3 on Ebay
I spotted the extra looking tube across the back of the engine bay but assumed it had just been modified.
I wonder if it is a MK2 chassis thats been rebuilt and fixed/modified along the way like mine.

No, Mk2, Mk3 and not so coincidentally, the Charles Anderson Cub (he just happened to have a Scamp and a friend had a Moke), have the same front subframe mountings and I drilled them for both the early twin small bolt as well as the large bolts.

Hi, just realised who you are. You ought to know every weld on the later ones at least !
Bit naughty if it is registered as a Scamp and isn't as somewhere along the way a Scamp has lost it's logbook.

Re: Bargain Mk3 on Ebay
Interesting. FWIW, my notes for this reg. no. have "Originally recorded as a black Mk2 but no source details". A total rebuild in 2008, perhaps?

Re: Bargain Mk3 on Ebay
I was going to bid on this for a toy to play with at the picnic but the more I looked at the pictures it just did not look right, it is definitely a mk2 that has been cut and carved to look like a mk3, a closer look at the front subframe mounts they are about 3 inches behind the front cross member (probably done to get the front mounted rad in) and also the space behind the front wheels does not allow for 13 inch low profiles which a mk3 was designed to do, oh the reg did not come up on the DVLA site either ? oh well i'll have to finish Florence (one day)
