Chassis Number
Hi Salvage-1,
I believe you are new so welcome to the Madness that is the Scamp Owners Club (forum).
I think you are correct regarding the number on the plate being the chassis Number.
However getting a log book maybe a BIG problem! I realise it is a bit late now but I would NOT recommend buying any kit car without proper (correct documentation).
Has the SCAMP been on the road before? Do you Know its registration number?
Did you get any old tax discs or MOT certs with your purchase?
If it has a registration number there are others on this forum who maybe able to help you identify your Scamp - Rum Tum Tugger keeps a data base of known Scamps, at least you have come to the right place for help!
Good Luck in making your Scamp road legal.

Chassis Number ETC.
My daughter also; got an £80 fine!!
Any way back to the plot - salvage-1 (any chance of a first name?).
As you have got registration plates, matching tax disc (does this say SCAMP) if so you are in with a good chance of getting your V5C as it is called now.
If (perhaps with help from SOC members) you can prove to the DVLA that your vehicle has been on the road as a SCAMP (rather than a mini/metro etc.) prior to the advent of SVA you should (hopefully) be able to get that V5c.
Sorry if I was a bit negative earlier but there are many posts on this very forum about registration problems. Regards Rob G aka NG Guy.

Re: Chassis number
Just go to the post office and get the form to request a new V5. As You have the reg number and chassis number it makes life easy. Once the DVLA have received it they'll write to the previous owner to ask if he declares an interest if he doesn't they'll send you the V5. that is unless the vehicle is on their records as being scrapped or exported

Re: Chassis number
Err, no idea why it did that twice, but now I can't delete the first one. Bloomin' forum app!
