I knew Mk1's were old, but I didn't think that they went back that far

Re: Mk1 on ebay
Interesting. A late (1983 on) registration. That looks like an original Robert Mandry Mk1 roll bar, not many of those about. It was an optional extra, and essential with a hard top. The car might be a 4-seater model, can't quite tell from the photos. These had an ali seat in the back, 2-seaters just had a gap to be boarded over.
It's not only correctly registered, but TAXED AND TESTED? The asking price, even as a starting point for haggling, still looks hopelessly optimistic. OTOH, when I consider the going price of a banger with 6 month's MoT the last time I bought one, and allow for inflation since then, maybe it's not so unreasonable.

Re: Mk1 on ebay
I think the problem with prices is what else is there and what would you build these days that it as usefull and as much fun as a scamp type vehicle. Tax free is a bonus, although break the price of road tax down pence per day over the year isnt that much, unless your running a couple of cars which some of us do. Most people will have to go through the iva/sva type test. How much £400.?? So saving all that cost things about £1000 and the fact that only a few kits these days are worth buying due to spares being plentiful shouldnt really be quibbled at ? Minis beetles have plentiful spares most of the rest are obsolete!! So the ebay bargains should be considered.

Slightly off topic
MGB and Triumph based kit cars are also well catered for spares wise with back-up from well known Classic Car Clubs, e.g. JC Midge Triumph based are counted as Specials by the Triumph Sports Six Club (TSSC).

No Problems
Hi Rob,
No Problem; Just thought I would mention that some other types of kit car are able to find spares as well!
At the end of the day this is the "Mini Scamp Owners" Forum.
Thanks RG.
