Re: hello from a new member, manchester,
Hi John, welcome to the forum. Do you have a registration number? If so, it's possible we might know something of the car's history. OTOH we might not, as there are more Scamps out there than we know of, so no promises.

johns scamp.....the report.
* thanks admim for your note, hopefully sort the picture upload soon*
made a list of work to do, 2 A4 pages, took the battery off my car, positve earth!
car! put some wd40 down the bores, as it seemed to stick, had a spark, plugs ok,
so i poured petrol down the carb, give it a go see what happens...... turn over, fluffed a few times then fired up and run...yey!....conked out! more petrol, ran longer, was pulling the fuel out of the tank (which i thought was off, but hey!) carb needs cleaning out,. also ,will need a roll over bar to mount seat belt anchors, 2 verticle bars with holes in.... well plenty to do... update on the reg no: DRJ 879L MINI Special, notes refer to rebuild. anyone know of this scamp?

Re: hello from a new member, manchester,
Hi John, I know the databases that both ZED and I have looked at can be a bit ropey sometimes.
Have you actually seen the V5 now?

V5, scamp
hi sumb, not the data bases wrong this time, was me looking at the plate all starry eyed , my friend on the farm had the V5, txt me at 11.05 to tell me the details, with what i was reading in another thread about how a scamp is registerd will see if this scamp is registerd correctly.

Re: hello from a new member, manchester,
As nice as it is to have the word Scamp on the V5 it is not the most important bit of the wording on the V5.
If it says Mini Special and then also has something like "kit assembled from parts - some, or all, may not be new" then that's the clincher.
Between us all in the club I think we have seen nearly every possible cock up and incorrect variation that DVLA has managed to put on V5's over the years.
I seem to remember one that stated "Land Rover" on the reg doc but it had always been a Scamp.

scamp registration
I bet the name put on the V 5 has made for some good laughs, like the "land rover"
in the fiat club we have stories about classic panda`s limited editions being registerd wrong, makes you wonder about who they employ at the DVLA,

Re: hello from a new member, manchester,
If there's a tax disc or MoT certificate, dated later than the V5, don't throw it away!
DRJ 879L seems to be a new find.
