That makes me feel a lot better about the year I've spent on my MK2. Hoping to have a big push over Easter and start refitting things as there isn't much left to take off it!

Scamp Build Empty review of the progress so far

Post  Mike W Sat Mar 31, 2012 9:08 am

I pulled it out just over a week ago, worked on it for about 6 hours in that time and this is the progress,I have stripped the front subframe, engine, suspension off, removed the floor, prepped and painted all the chassis underneath, the engine bay and the front subframe.
Rebuilt with all new parts including Wilspeed hilos and refitted the front subframe,Hope to get the engine bult and fitted during next week,(thats another project on its own) all depends on work.
I hope to have it ready for paint during April.
I have had the Scamp 10 years, I sprayed it red, white and blue got it moted, returned from the mot straight into the workshop and i hasnt moved until last week.
the reason for the rebuild is I hope to attend the picnic this year with this and my mk1.
Anyway I will keep updating with progress

Hi Rob,
I have taken lots of photos, but it is easier to rebuild the car than to load the photos on here, tried several times and now given up.

It's probably easier to upload them to a site like Photobucket, make the gallery public and post a link here. I struggle to upload photos here and I'm paid to be a computer geek.

Good luck with the rebuild Mike, had a Mk2 for many years as a company van,you won't be sorry when it's back on the road it's just the hard graft and the thinking about it that you'll be regretting, but it's worth it.

Getting a photo on here is a piece of cake, honest!
There is an icon that says "host an image" click it and it allows you to browse your photo's,double click your photo that you want to post on here and the text file goes into the box, then you press "host it" wait for a few seconds,or as I have found before, sometimes 30 seconds and 3 rows pop up with the details of your image. Now copy the "url" image and then there is another icon that says just "image" (next to the "host an image" icon) paste the copied url image into the box provided and press o.k. and hey presto you have an image on the forum.
