Only a couple of months away now. Cool

Looking forward to seeing how much of a difference there is between the AT's, and the road tyres that the Jimny had on when I first bought it. I can't believe I've had it a year at the end of August, it's gone so quick the time that is, not the Jimny! Laughing

Just got the back end to raise up on mine

Put the spacers back in my cones, Up 1".

Did you know (proberly! Rolling Eyes ) that Cavalier rims fit onto mini rears with spacers, So that will be 195/80/14 on the back end, Up another 1".

Plus an oil change is due.

Hope to see lots of you getting down and muddy on the Bank Hol w/end.

Hi Rob,

Nice 'n easy to find from Wolverhampton... Into Kidderminster then either head out to Bewdley or if the mood takes you.. to Stourport.
Into Bewdley town (Ie ignore the bypass) over the river and as you go up by the Church at the top of town (Lode Street) turn left onto the B4194 which takes you alongside the river towards Stourport. The Farm is a fair way along there towards the Stourport end.
From Stourport, through the town and over the bridge... when you are free from the built up area turn right on the other end of the B4194 towards... surprise, surprise.. Bewdley. Farm's a short way along there on the left.. if we're camping in the field that we used to use...Oooh 15 years ago.. Very Happy

Reason I ask is, my Mk2 has Imp wheels (historic way of putting 12" wheels on a Mini) but the old-style 90-degree Mini nuts left scuff marks.

Post  Mr Bridger Fri Aug 15, 2008 9:21 am

Rob,
A Cavalier wheel has a metric PCD (pitch circle diameter) of 100 mm
A Mini has an imperial PCD of 4 inches. which equates to 101.6 mm, so your wheels are out by that 1.6 mm, but I suppose it won't matter on the back of a Scamp while you are off roading at Stourport..................

We know a few people who are interested in joining us on this one......
What is the cost for NON SOC members who just want to come to camp, and chill out with us (not drive off-road)? Is it just £15 per car, or would they have to pay to join the SOC for a year as well?

Thanks in advance,
Elaine&Reg. Very Happy

Post  Martin & Nettie Tue Aug 19, 2008 5:54 am

I know I'm 3500 miles away but just to remind all those that are going to the picnic both old and new members that the club pays for the use of the farmers field to camp on and the use of designated areas in the woods to put your scamp thru its paces but you do so at your own risk. The club pays for public liability insurance each year to cover us in the event a member injuring a member of the public and visa versa. The picnic site is not strictly marshalled as it is not an organised offroading event and is not open to the general public.

All vehicles should be taxed and mot'd and insured and all drivers should have a full driving license. We have had to issue a method statement and risk assessment again this year to the farmer and I will send you all a copy by email today. We all live in a nanny state where playing conkers at school is banned but you are all responsible for each other at the picnic so please take care when up in the woods, make sure your kids know where to go and not to go, I am relying on those of you that have been going to the picnic for years and know the layout and rules at the picnic to advise new members and your friends.

Sorry to lay down the rules but thats what being the President of the club is all about so be safe have great time and hope the weather is kind.

Regards,

No worries Martin, as you know we are all quite sensible really. Smile

So will the non-members have to join the SOC to attend the picnic (not drive off-road, maybe a passenger ride though)?

Cheers,
E. sunny

I'm glad you've cleared that one up Martin.
I've had concerns since my (parked) Esprit was nearly hit by a child driving a Scamp at an event. It could easily have been a close call with another child....

Post  Martin & Nettie Tue Aug 19, 2008 9:49 am

The issue of members inviting friends to the picnic is that they are regarded as members of the public and the picnic is not technically not open to the public. Any person coming on the site that is not a member of the club or a guest of a member must be turned away, to prevent this happening the main gate must be closed at all times. We cannot stop people bringing their friends to experience the Scamp annual picnic. If members guests bring a vehicle to offroad then they join the club as it is our site for the weekend and we are responsible for it while we are there.

In years gone by the club funded some of the cost of the picnic but in recent years due to the rising cost of mainly the portaloos we have had to charge per vehicle to break even. The weather plays a major part in recovering the cost of the picnic if it rains the number of people attending drops but the offroading gets more interesting. So to break even this year we need around 30 cars coming thru the gate to pay for the field, the portaloos and the barbeque. If the weather is poor and fewer cars arrive the loss will have to be met by the club which is your money. So its in your interest to get your friends to join the club. I will leave it up to Nettie to charge what she thinks is appropriate for people who only come for the day and do not camp and may or may not enjoy the barbeque.

I hope it goes well and you all have a great time.

Stourport Bank Holiday Weekend Empty Scamp Picnic Stourport

Post  Martin & Nettie Tue Aug 19, 2008 6:18 pm

Hi Elaine

The cost will be £15 per car as usual for the weekend. If your friends want to visit for the day it will be £5. If it's Sunday and they want to stay for the barbi there would be a contribution of £2 per person. If they did want to take their own vehicles off road they would have to join I'm afraid as the P L insurance won't cover non members driving around in their own vehicles for if they have an accident.

See you at the weekend

Why don't we make the admission per adult then? I'm sure nobody would object as it will secure future events. Very Happy
I mean even £15 per adult is a bargain for a bank holiday weekend of camping (not to mention the free BBQ) in such a touristy area. Cool
