Well why not lower your price a bit and maybe get a bit more interest? Have you got it advertised anywhere other than on here?
I'm sick of hearing about this scrappage scheme. So many classics and rare cars gone to the crusher.

yes it really is annoying but im not prepared to lose money when they will give £2000 for it so £1750 is the lowest i can go. and i think its worth that

Re: 1979 mini scamp for sale £1750
It'd be such a shame to scrap it........with a bit more TLC it could be a nice little Scamp.
But if you do go down that sad route, here are the requirements to qualify for the scrappage scheme:
Your vehicle
The vehicle you are trading in must:
The new vehicle
The new vehicle you want to buy must be:
When trading in your old vehicle for a new vehicle the registered keeper for both vehicles must be the same.
And I'm not even sure that kit cars qualify?
Elaine.
But if you do go down that sad route, here are the requirements to qualify for the scrappage scheme:

- be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) in your name
- have been registered to you continuously for 12 calendar months before the order date of the new vehicle
- have a UK address on the registration certificate (V5C)
- have a current MOT test certificate before date of order for the new vehicle (or within 14 days of expiry at the time of order)
- have a current tax disc when the order for the new vehicle is placed (or within 14 days of expiry at the time of order)
- be insured when the order for the new vehicle is placed
The new vehicle
The new vehicle you want to buy must be:

Re: 1979 mini scamp for sale £1750
Of course it is 'Real Mark 3' I can see that from the previous photos. But, as a Scamp, it IS a Kit Car. All Scamps are Kit Cars.
I have read the previous posts regarding this car and I have to agree with others on here, you are asking far too much money for it, but E-bay is your best best to obtain the sort of money you are looking for. Scamps have gone for silly money on there before and I'm sure there are still people buying on there that are looking for a Scamp and willing to pay a high price for it.
Best of luck with your sale

Sorry to hear about your problem with the knee. What's the matter with it and was it an accident or a design fault?
My bad knees are from a combination of inherited weekness, being a Plumber in my youth and using my knee cap instead of brakes (brakes are much more efficient at stopping you and don't put you in A&E!)
Re: 1979 mini scamp for sale £1750
I can see why a Scamp would not be very suitable for you then!
(Not you James!) So sorry to hear bout your knee. Is there still a hope that it will recover?
Guess you passed your test first time?
Suppose you could fit an automatic box? Would be cheaper than a new car - wouldn't have to scrap a great little car either!
Go on - keep it! You know you want to!

Stick an Autobox in the Scamp...cheap enough...then spend your Motability allowance on Wine and Wild Women.....sorted!

Its much easy fitting an auto in a MK3 than a Mark 2
The much maligned mini/metro autos are better than people make out, especially the 1275 version. We don't generally do high mileages in Scamps so they will probably last long enough.
Tuning is limited as you have to keep the camshaft......spend the money on a super charger !
You could always try some form of hand clutch......
I'd be interested to see how an auto stands up off road.......in theory the "fluid" drive of the torque converter should be more resilent to the driveline shocks......but this is a mini 'box !

Re: 1979 mini scamp for sale £1750
If I am not mistaken the very first MK3 Andrew Mclean built was an automatic for his sister who only passed an automatic driving test, a very nice looking Scamp - the only downside was that the totty did not come with the kit - so source a running auto mini and get someone to help you do the swap and there you have a babe magnet (probably)

Re: 1979 mini scamp for sale £1750
That's the only reason why i bought a MK3.
Imagine my suprise when i found out the bird on the roof didn't come with kit!

auto off road
Metro Mick had an auto in his mk2 it went very well off road.
The impression I got from letters in the paper was you could get cars just as cheap without scrapping an old one if you haggled. Car manufacturers are still struggling.

Martin you won't get a babe magnet from a Scamp, the magnet will only stick to the box section. I think he will be better Ebaying the Scamp and find out what it is really worth..

Yep, def better.
Does that mean you are going to get over to some of our 'does'?
Stourporti? You don't have to come all weekend, just join us for the day and see what good fun the scamps really are.

Oooh come on, you'll have a great time. As well as off-roading, we have BB wars, chill out, BBQ's, etc, and Stourport is always good at Aug Bank Hol.
We're all busy.......... I work full-time, and also do voluntary work for the Royal British Legion. And here's a snippet of what else we're currently up to: doing up the bungalow, making parts for Lotus & VX220's, working on another Scamp project, taking part in a 15 mile sponsored walk/run, building an additional car port, revamping the garden, the list goes on, and on, and on, and on.
So you see 'too busy' is not a good enough excuse for us SOC members.
Elaine.
