Air Ambulance Sponsored Walk
On Saturday 27th June I'm taking part in Whitwick Music Festival's 15 mile sponsored run/walk to raise funds for the Air Ambulance.
I'm not ultra fit, so I'll be mostly walking with just the odd bit of running when I feel I can.
The route is from The Rag n Mop (Man within Compass) in Whitwick to Breedon church yes, the one on the hill and back. It's mainly cross country with the odd bit of road involved.
If you can, please spare a few pounds for this fantastic cause.
Remembering to quote my name, and this club in the 'comments' box (so they know it's me who you're sponsoring, and where I know you from).
Please click 'HERE' to sponsor me.
Thanks in advance,
Elaine.

Re: Air Ambulance Sponsored Walk
Less than two weeks to go, I just hope the weather cools down a bit.
They're still taking entrants if anyone fancies joining me.....

I'm sure we will all be thinking of you suffering, while we are basking in the sun cracking a tinny
If your not fit what does that make the rest of us
Good luck

Re: Air Ambulance Sponsored Walk
It starts at 10.00am so hopefully I'll be well on my way home by the time it gets too hot............. I might even fill my CamelBak with beer.
I'm sure you're quite fit Rob, I've seen you trawling those kit car shows for bargains, you must cover a few miles then.

Re: Air Ambulance Sponsored Walk
Had to wait to check in, so didn't start until 09.10 The weather was mixed sunny/overcast, but VERY humid, and we kept hitting pockets of heat, which felt like we were suffocating. I froze my CamelBak the night before, so had plenty of fluids. WELL, when it finally thawed enough to flow, that is.
Finished the run I say run, but a lot of it was impossible to go quicker than fast walking, think plants tangled around ankles in a little over 4 hours, not too bad considering we'd* done no training, didn't know the very hilly, potholey route, and most of the paths were over grown........... I'm talking nettles and thistles that are taller than me! Lots of screaming, and cut legs going on And I lost count of how many times I was stung, but I realised just how many cuts I had when I got in the shower more screaming!
I managed to raise around £200, so thanks to everyone who sponsored me. Will give you the exact figure when I've collected all of the money in.
*I say we, because I roped Reg in at the last minute, cause I didn't want to go across the fields alone. How gay am I?!
And he needn't have bothered, because I found out halfway through that a young ex-army lad who we know, and a regular runner who knows the route were also doing it. And they only finished in just under 4hrs, so I'm sure I could have kept with them we had to keep stopping to see which way we should be going, so that added quite some time.
TBH I'm not too stiff today, I'm a natural at long distances, but I think Reg who's still asleep will be as stiff as a teenager with a Sam Fox poster!
Sorry Reg, please forgive me!
Thanks again everybody,
Elaine.

Re: Air Ambulance Sponsored Walk
I've got around £225 on paper now - Hoping for a bit more off friends who said they'd give as well. And £141.03 (inc the gift aid) online.
