Taz is on the road again
Bring out the flags! Taz is back up and running!!
Many many thanks to Colin for all his hard work.
Tony and Colin fitted the new engine(we think a 1275) to Taz and got it up and running on Sat.
Spoke too soon - no clutch! Many hours of two men trying to cobble things together - one or two shouts of hurray - engine refitted - blue air... ( you know how it goes!)
Apparently different set up - some plate or another needed. Fortunately we were off to Himley Mini show on Sunday so surely we would get one there - YEP
Home and straight back on the case. (Jono I think you might need a new engine hoist - this one has been over-used!) New part fitted.................

Hurray!!!!!! It really did work this time!
So - hope to see you all at Birmingham bash. Might even get there(and back) in a Scamp!

Re: Taz is on the road again
What a keen Scamper you are Tony,
I take my hat off to you getting the Scamp ready for the Bank holiday bash. Its more the merrier. As a few of you know I have been very poorly in the past month with the stay in two hospitals. I will be attending Mikes and Wendys bash. I hope the White Scamps which it takes a bit of getting used to as I have sprayed it blue, as it is getting its hood made at Mudfords. Its been there nearly as long as I been out of action.
See you lot soon,
Rick N Rosie

Glad to hear that Taz is back on the road.
Rick, sorry to hear that you've also been off the road, hope you're feeling better now.

Re: Taz is on the road again
I do hope you are on the mend Rick (why two hospitals wasn't one enough) and you will be fighting fit to take on the demanding role of SOC President (assuming your still up for it and you don't get half a dozen challengers which is unlikely and the members vote in your favour at the AGM at Newark). I fly back to the uk on 22nd May to be with my lady wife and to attend Mike and Wendy's Birmingham Bash to give our caravan an outing, so see you there .

Re: Taz is on the road again
Oh - for those who know that Taz came back from the Peak District on an AA truck - you might be interested to know (or probably won't!) to know that since then, we have used our AA membership another 3 times!!!!!!!!! It wouldn't be so bad, but it was for 3 different cars!!!!
The Pajero starter motor finally decided to throw a complete paddy and said bopping it over the head would not work any more!
Then my car decided that it wanted a new fuel primer and filter. (I (Lin) drove it home with a replacement part supplied by the AA man - a lovely blue rubber glove!)
This week, the car Tony has been using from work - a 4 year old vw Passat - decided that 2 hours of sitting in a car park with the radio on was too much. I had flattened the battery while waiting for Dawn to return from visiting her friend in hospital. (I did find out that it wasn't my fault - we had to bump start it this morning too!
Nic says I am NOT to go anywhere near her cars!!!! - Can't think why!
I think I am jinxed!

Re: Taz is on the road again
Thank you Martin thats very thoughtful, I was in Portsmouth hospital one week then came home for a week taken very ill and ended up in Lincoln hospital for another week. I had to try a northern one out as I am a NORTHENER now.Martin & Nettie wrote:I do hope you are on the mend Rick (why two hospitals wasn't one enough) and you will be fighting fit to take on the demanding role of SOC President (assuming your still up for it and you don't get half a dozen challengers which is unlikely and the members vote in your favour at the AGM at Newark
I will stand for president if its offered to me. I will put my best input into the club.
I even ordered the rain a weekend early, hows that.So it will be dry for Mikes and Wendys bash.
