Re: My MK2 ongoing project
Looking good so far - (actually looks finished- although I have come to realise that all Scamps are ongoing projects!)
Give us some more info about it.

That space in the back is begging for a V8 and a Jag rear axle - its never been done and probably never will be. Carry on the good work another Mk2 is brought back from the dead and will burn up the Queens highway again.

Re: My MK2 ongoing project
Hi
Does anybody know any history of this scamp as it had scamp owners club sticker on it when i bought it??
I bought it from ebay about 18 mths ago from a farm in Colchester where it looked like it had stood for a while. Was a horriable burgandy colour which done nothing for the looks
It did look a sorry state but a swift 1380cc engine transplant , neg camber arms , adj tie bars , spax shocks , hilo's , 4 pot brakes , big set of wheels , second fuel tank , a few tweeks and a slap of red paint and i was on the road.
The scamp was at last years revieria mini run (in burgandy colour) and the london to Brighton ( in red) , Hope to do alot more this year as it always turns a few heads like all scamps.
Dan

a V8 and a Jag rear axle
V8 in the back, wrong way round, driving the Jag diff under the bonnet.
Seriously though that is one hell of a nice looking motor. Presumably the wheel arches will have to grow a bit before it goes back on the road though. And I'm a bit dubious about those alloys and the rocks at Stourport...

Re: My MK2 ongoing project
It would be a pity if not - the car looks beefy enough. Maybe the answer is a separate set of knobbly-shod steels, as used by certain keen Scampers.
It's your car though Dan, and up to you how you use it.

Re: My MK2 ongoing project
I wounldn't get far with off roading as i can't even get over some speed humps !!!
I have a bit of a ride height issue , even with hi-lo's fully up, new rubber cones and even 2 washers between cone and knuckle i still get stuck
Last year on the mini rivera run i got beached on a speed hump at leigh delemare services and had to get the jack out to get off and at gordano services i had to reverse up the exit road to get in .
I do have a sump gaurd but it fits quite snug to the exhaust so it can't go any higher.
When i bought the car it was running on 10" minilights so i can't imagine how the previous owner used to get about
Has anyone got any ideas??
Daniel

Re: My MK2 ongoing project
You might be surprised to see where Scamps go. Many are on 10" wheels and still give it a go! You will have to join us and find out!
Read some of the posts on Stouport picnic last year and the Turkey run to see what some folks get up to in their Scamps - mostly with road tyres and approximately 5" ground clearance. The cars are pushed to - and beyond any reasonable limit
We are all there to support each other and it is amazing what can be mended with the parts and tool kits we all carry around
(Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned that) We just go out an enjoy ourselves. If you don't feel like trying it with yours - you can often hitch a ride with someone else.

Re: My MK2 ongoing project
Sorry, just realised that I didn't explain that very well - Its been a L O N G day!
Stourport pics are mainly on the main scamp owners club pages - previous events - Scamp picnic.
There are also some interesting comments in the forum on the events - Stourport bank holiday weekend - start on page 3 as there is a lot of 'before the event' But some good bits on that - make sure you read the post from the 'discovery' driver!! I feel he sums up the mentality of a good proprtion of the club members!
The turkey run pics etc are on the forum - follow events - turkey run and read down the thread. There is a wonderful video link somewhere along there if I remember correctly!
I hope this all makes sense!

Re: My MK2 ongoing project
Looks brilliant!
Perfect stance, brilliant colour combo!
Has to be my favourite Scamp I've seen- and is probably the best inspiration for a future project!
Love it!!
Will be watching further progress!! (Eventhough it is quite an old thread!)
