Welcome aboard James! Which model is your Scamp - Mk1, 2 or 3? And is it roadworthy, in need of tidying up or a bare-metal resto job? Also, if you could let us know the registration number (or PM me if you prefer), I'll see if it's on the database and add it if not.

Bought October 2014 by forum member Simonice for restoration, having been laid up since 1987. Car and owner both dropped off the radar the following January. Several pictures were posted under topic "Project 'Rusty'" but are no longer accessible, due I believe to Photobucket having had a major overhaul at some point.

Anyway, this is what it looked like (sorry, photo's been cropped):

It's registered as a scamp and there is a chassis number on log book but nothing on the chassis

Interesting to see this one again as it looks very similar to my one. Sometimes the chassis numbers were hand stamped somewhere easy to read as was the case with mine that had a number issued by a local DVLA office.
If you need any imperial square tube for chassis repairs I bought some from here. https://www.hublebas.co.uk/

Yes, that was the one weak spot of the Mk2s. The inrigger attached to the front subframe towers tended to flex when going over a bump, and eventually the tower tops would tear off. A little bracing won't come amiss, or a bit more if you're fitting a tuned 1440 lump:

I absolutely love it James. I'm on the hunt for a MK2 like yours. Quite jealous actually, ha. Good luck with the rebuild.
