Safe and defensive driving during RAINS

My first day back at work and checking my emails I thought you might like to read this letter from our car rental firm (names removed to protect the innocent).

Sub: Safe and defensive driving during RAINS.

Dear Sir,

We thank you for your continued business support.

As you are aware over the past couple of years we have had quite a few instances of unpredictable rains and the consequent water-logging resulting in damages to our vehicles.

In this regard we wish to advise you that “any damage to the vehicle resulting from the vehicle being driven in waterlogged areas or negligent driving during rains” will be covered by us ONLY with a valid police report.

We wish to highlight "safe and defensive driving” during these times and suggest:

a. Avoid driving through water as risk of damage to vehicle / engine increases.

b. Should you find your parked vehicle in water-logged area, under no circumstances should the engine be started.

In case a proper police report is not provided the cost of repairs would have to be borne by you and no replacement vehicle will be provided in lieu of the damaged vehicle.
