Caffeine Camper
Colour has got to be WHITE with Starbucks green arches & Starbucks logo's all over it........Damn.....They've changed to their Red christmas cups........
Colour has got to be WHITE with Starbucks red arches & Starbucks logo's all over it..........Oops Coffe overload
Seriously, as i'm now 4 weeks in to being an ex-smoker.......my body has found a new level of equilibrium, in the revised words of Fat Boy Slims new song, i'm in "Coffee, Design, Coffee, Repeat" mode, my body is now happy with 2-3 hrs sleep (every other day!).
CAD has been running for the last couple of weeks on a simple but now escalating project....nearly finished, so let the design process start....Already got 90% of a Mk2 chassis in a virtual world....
Give me your wish lists & i'll make them appear in their fully rendered Glory..... Muhhhhaaaahhhhhhaaaaa...Sorry Coffee levels running low .
Disclaimer: I HAVE A HABIT OF GETTING CARRIED AWAY WITH DETAIL IN MY DESIGNS, SO WHEN I START PUTTING BOLTS & STUFF IN, GIVE ME A POLITE SLAP, I'M USED TO IT, TRUTH BE TOLD ITS ENJOYABLE...
Just to give you a quick teaser & an idea of how SAD i can get......
Idea was to make a collapse-able towing dolly...
Then the old man piped up with, "Can a tow my scooter on that".....
This then grew to "Ooh i could make this into a camping trailer....."
And finally to "Tents are a bit of a PITA to put up....."
Now i've got to rearrange the whole garage to try & get an 8' x 4' board in it....Sheesh
Solidworks 3d CAD Software---------------------------------Check
Lotus Suspension Design & Anaylsis Software-----------------Check
FEA (Finite Element Analysis or stress testing) Software-------Check
Starbucks at Hopwood Services Open 24 hrs------------------Check
Let the Design Times Roll... Oh on a side note...I can only seem to model cars up in YELLOW, apols in advance....

Tear Drop Scamp
Love the idea of a "Tear Drop" backed Scamp with added accommodation as a bonus, perhaps extended to six wheels to take the extra weight.
Definitely an off the wall option!

Re: Caffeine Camper
James, i guess you didn't read the Disclaimer in my post.....Yep i am SAD about the details...
That's how i found out that the Rev's won't fit on the trailer hub's i bought !!!!! Just need to find another RFX (as i've only got 5) then contemplate boring the centre of the alloy out to take the hub or try & mod the hub .
With regard to Pea.....what's the starting style......tray back .....Bowler......Atom.....2 bricks.....Oops that ones already been done.....
Give me some stylistic pointers & i'll crank up the CAD.
Neil

Don't want to Hi-Jack TRR's Post But
Hi Neil,
If you really don't mind and have the time, could you please try the Tear Drop caravan idea, either with a 4 OR 6 wheeled Scamp.
I really think your CAD work is great!!
best regards Rob G.

Re: Caffeine Camper
Running a bit behind at the moment....Trying to move the garage around to get enough room for an 8'x x 4' sheet in...Only to come home to find the old mans just bought his next restoration project, a BSA Bantam
Right Rob, i've had a quick look at a Teardrop Scamp, but unless your my height, your going to end up with about a 1 metre overhang at the back when used with a standard length Mk2 (It's what i've got, so that'll do). not sure what it would look like with a 6 wheeler, prob drop down to approx 300mm.
James, Got a potentially scary idea for Pea, just need a bit of time to model it up......... MUUUUHHHHAAAAAhhhhhhaaaaaa...

Tear Drop Scamp
Thanks very much Neil appreciated!
I don't know if we have ever met; but I am about 5' 5", not sure what that is in metric! Maybe see you at Detling or the Woodman Pub meet.
I probably would have removed the rear most roll-bar; but maybe not worth the effort for the small gain. At least I have got a much better idea of how it would or wouldn't work now.
Best regards RG.

Re: Caffeine Camper
Hi RG,
I'm 5' 4" so the scale shouldn't be too far out. On a side note the rear hoop of Walle's rollbar is about 200mm behind the standard front hoop. With my seat fixed (about 50mm of movement available due to my ott interior) the seat is about 1/2" clear of the rear hoop. To give a sense of scale to my Teardrop design, the side panels are machineable from an 8' x 4' Ply sheet (as its the size of the CNC router i use at work ) with my raised seats inside to give some storage, i might just be able to sit up straight in the tallest part

Tear Drop Scamp
Thanks Neil,
I understand about the rear Roll Bar being kept now (without it seat-back would foul front of Tear Drop caravan).
Have you any pictures of your (Scamps) ott interior - just curious.
Where about's is Hollywood UK, are you likely to make either Detling or the Woodman meet?
Thanks Again, hope I didn't slow down your work on TRR's "Scary Pea Resurrection" too much.
Cheers RG.

Re: Caffeine Camper
Hi NG,
Hollywood is a little village on the borders of Birmingham, Solihull & Redditch....goes back to the Doomsday Book, so we're the Original Hollywood
With regard to pic's of Walle, have a look in the Gallery under "Neils Incident".....it's the long boring one Unfortunately work is going slowly due to Funds & other circumstances at the moment...
PS the teardrop Scamp took about 45 mins to model.

Resurrection of Pea etc.
Hi Neil,
Wow that was some front end rebuild! Front end must be the strongest Mk2 ever!
I hope you are fully recovered from the accident and that Walle will be fully operational very soon!
My wife comes from a village in Sussex called Etchingham, that is also in the Doomsday Book as you say definitely the original Hollywood; maybe ancient Druidic connections as mistletoe, Holly and oak are all sacred to earth based religions!
Very impressed that the Teardrop Scamp only took 45 mins.
Best regards RG aka NG Guy.
