Think car engine in car bike engine in bike. The best way. Been there done that. Unless you have deep pockets stick to the original intended engine.

The other way to view is if it breaks you have to buy your parts from specialists, bike engines become obsolete very quickly. Has it a reverse. Pushing a non reverse car out of a parking space very quickly loses its appeal. Insurance is it standard err not quite. Gearing also an issue. Blah blah.

Specialists? What like any motorbike shop or ebay? If I can get new genuine Kawasaki parts for a 23 year old bike, something with a 5 or 10 year old engine isn't going to be much of a problem.
Insurance is cheap and easy in my experience.
Gearing, again not a problem, use a different diff.
Reversing, lots of options here, leg, electric or one of numerous reverse boxes.

Re: Interesting one on Ebay
Yes you can buy spares for most bikes but as for my SVA,d CAR it began to be expensive, special parts quaffe box for reverse that jumped out of drive when going quite quick. You had to stop to put it back in. There are sooo many variations of motor out there. Im saying in a mini based car its best to stick with A series. What diff did the magenta have was it fed or rwd?

It's parked behind a S4s Esprit, so it's taken a bit of a backseat again. We will crack on with it one day, but every time we move the Esprit out of the garage to get to the Monster we just seem to drive for miles, and miles, and miles.... ♥ ♥ ♥
