Guided tours of Cannock Chase
Found this article - http://ummclub.multiply.com/photos/album/11/4x4_event_on_Cannock_Chase
Not much info but it states that the Forestry Commision do (or did) provide guided off road tours round Cannock Chase forest. Anyone got any contacts in the Forestry Commision to see if these are still going?

Re: Guided tours of Cannock Chase
Yeah, not quite the type of guided tour I was thinking off.
I was aiming more at a daylight excursion - of course if anyone then wants to hang around after dark

They still happen a few times during the year, on a saturday, in the winter, and some evenings during the summer, you need to prebook, but you can pay on the day, £10/vehicle, we try to attend as many as possible, always worth a go
you need to contact the vistors centre to book, go on the cannock chase website for the number.

Hmmmmmmm - and you are in Cannock too Mike W - do you fancy looking into the logistics of organising something? I promise to attend if you do and I'm sure we will get a few more names. Add in a pub grub theme or maybe a camp over at a local site?
What do you recon? Use this thread to gauge interest and then see what is available?

Hi all
If anyone does look in to it and can get something organised we will do our best to be there.

Contacted Cannock Chase today, they would not commit to a date for the next event but 4x4's only

Hmmmm, this is the problem Scamps sometimes get. "Oh, you will not be able to do it unless you have 4x4"
How many times have we pulled Landrovers out of a hole? Oh, and Frontera's too?
Thanks for looking into it Mike. Let's not right it off but put it in the 'To Do' pile.

LOL They've probably been reading the green laning threads on this forum...
On a more serious note, we managed to get Reg's Monster Scamp on Curborough sprint circuit despite the fact that it's waaaaaayy over their noise limit (we measured it at 115db on tick over inside the cab) WHAT? Sorry, I can't hear you!!
We simply took it along to an event held by the Peugeot Sports Club, turned lots of heads, hobnobbed, and the officials almost begged Reg to take it round....
It was the fastest thing on the circuit that day, because all of Mi16'd 205 GTi's there that day had 1.9 gearboxes. And Reg's Monster has the 1.6, so is faster bottom end.
What I'm getting at is, can't you go in your 4x4's, but somebody also take a Scamp? If you blag it well enough they might just let you use it, thus opening the doors for a future Scamp event... It's worth a try, especially in the current climate where businesses would be silly to refuse your money.
Elaine.
