Re: Digital Nativity
Err - without getting too embroiled in Theology - I'd have thought most of the story of Christmas was based on Christianity?

Well there's evidence there was a Jewish religious leader/teacher known as Jesus of Nazareth living in Galilee approximately 2000 years ago who was executed by the Roman's. That's about it the rest is conjecture at best. Christmas is just a hijacking of much older mid-winter celebrations to help with the spread of Christianity. It is very good at adapting to fit into the local area and gaining a foothold.
Personally any excuse for a big gaudy piss-up involving lots of food in the middle of winter is all good as far as I'm concerned

I'm sorry - I've absolutely no evidence any of the characters used facebook/google/twitter etc etc.
I thought it was a joke.
What a shame it was taken so seriously. At least I didn't post anything about Santa!

It is a joke, folks spend far too much on Christmas....
Life's too short to be serious,
Elaine.

That goes way beyond a joke...It is a joke, folks spend far too much on Christmas....
Agreed.Life's too short to be serious
Unfortunately a lot gets read into various ... let's call them "legends", by which I mean fictional, part-fictional or at the very least, embroidered accounts of actual people or events. Scholarship and critical analysis only go so far in disentangling the plausible from the implausible, even the best critical & scholastic opinion is so divided.
But enough of that.
Did you know that Santa Claus (a.k.a. Nikolaos of Myra) was a real person?

Re: Digital Nativity
Wheather it be digital nativity,Lego nativity or just cardboard cut out nativity, if it gets the message accross what the whole "Christ mas" celebration is about, it has to be a good thing, and if you are a non "Christian" then may your "seasons celebrations" be good ones. Boy, this whole world would be so dull if we were all the same!!

I'm just in it for the sherry & mince pies. Oh and the brussels, we mustn't forget them I'll have to buy some, because ours aren't ready yet, I love brussels.

Re: Digital Nativity
I prefer the Red Dwarf slant on religion ...
Scientists working near Mount Cyani have found what is thought to be the first page of the bible, it reads...."To my darling Candy, all characters portrayed in this story are ficticious & bear no ...."
The page has been universally condemned by religious leaders.......
Religion & homosexuality, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just don't try & force it down my throat...
Hehe
For me, christmas is sausages wrapped in bacon !!!

Hey Elaine,
Not sure what you were thinking about this morning.....but i meant Christmas Dinner ....Sausages wrapped in bacon & cooked in the turkey tray...
Christmas is usually spent assembling the kids toys...This year i've got a break, the kids are having a Wii for christmas...guess what i'm spending the rest of the day doing Yep picking up the broken ornaments !!
