Re: Scamp Grill Badges - Now Available
My badges arrived yesterday and look fab! They've also been wrapped in plastic to stop them being scratched which is good. Just need to sort the dash out on the MK2 and get it all back together now

Got them
I had a delay in ordering them.
They arrived today, quickly and in good order.
Many thanks to Andrew.

Badges
I'm not a member yet - I'm fairly new to the Scamp world and am still looking for a do-er upper! How much are these to non members and (hides head in shame) I've not joined yet?

Re: Scamp Grill Badges - Now Available
Hi IWANTAMK1 and welcome to the mad house
The grill badges are direct from Andrew the owner of the Scamp Motor Company rather then through the SOC so that is the price for everyone, member or not. If you are looking for a MK1 it is probably worth giving Andrew a call as he sometimes has Scamp's in need of some TLC available or know where there is one for sale. His details are listed here http://www.scampmotorcompany.co.uk/address.html
Have you posted a wanted ad on the sale board here?

Re: Scamp Grill Badges - Now Available
Thanks Charlie! I've not looked seriously yet to be fair... I new Scamps existed, as I've always been into Minis in a big way - for years a customer of mine (who new they were my passion) brought me his "Mini with a difference" which was a Scamp. So cool - I've not been able to think of anything else!
I've seen some on ebay, but they are a little over my budget at the mo. Does anyone do a buying guide? I know it sounds stupid what with Mini Mechanics and aluminum panels - but I'm guessing the steel frame rusts just the same! Are there any particularly weak spots? I shall order a badge and ask! Always the best way to start a resto I think - buy a part for a car you've not got, and won't need for ages!

Re: Scamp Grill Badges - Now Available
The chassis members on a Mk1 are 10 gauge, so they last pretty well, but eventually rust from the inside. I've been patching them up on my 1973 Mk1 for a good few years, but had to have the cross members replaced a couple of years ago. They might have lasted longer if I'd Waxoyled them inside as I originally meant.
A point worth checking for is galvanic corrosion of the ali where it's rivetted to steel, although it's usually OK if covered in enough paint. Another is the condition of the (van) fuel tank which, like the rear subframe, is at the mercy of mud and road grit: I've got through a couple (and three subframes) so far. Replacing the tank is a subframe-out job, the sort where you run out of swear words and get to invent a few new ones.

Re: Scamp Grill Badges - Now Available
I was the lucky one who (after John Halliday spotted it) picked up a stainless steel van tank from Europa Car Spares bargain area at Stoneleigh. Only thing was it had a peculiar filler neck on it, eventually found a fuel cap that fitted........classic Triumph Motorcycle!!
