DVLA Trouble !!!!!!!!

The DVLA will not issue me my V5 ? They say I have modified it because I informed them it has 3 axles ( it said on the V5- 2 )
But talking to them, the Scamp was first registered with the donor vehicle and registration DJN ***T, but due to a discrepancy in their records the Scamp has to be inspected before a registration document could be issued !
So they inspected it ( May 1998 ) and registered it with a V5 that stated 2 axles and now they want it SVA'd again because I have pionted out their error !!!!!

I need to fill in documentation but I need to know what the original chasis number means ? AM *****92
I know AM and the 92 is the year- but what are the 5 numbers inbetween ? thanks.........

If youve got proof that it has always been 3 axle it helps the fight. Old Mot's, Photo's, has it always been insured with the same company, did you have to send them photo's as proof of worth.

Anderew Mclean should have the relevant details as he made it(hence the AM at the beginning),he would have records when it was built and how many axles etc.Check the main Scamp website out,there is a link to the Scamp Motor corporation there I think.

No pix in Scampers mag I'm afraid.

I remember seeing photos of it when it was for sale on E-bay a number of years ago. But I think the fact that Andrew should have it on file as a 6 wheeler chassis should do the trick.

Definitely call Andrew he's very helpful and has records for the chassis' he's made. Last week he confirmed that my MK3 was indeed the prototype for the GT3's and some other interesting info on it. Rick should also be able to help as the club is registered with the DVLA.

PS. Might be worth sending in an 'Information From Record Request' on form V888 (downloadable from here: dvla Information From Record Request http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_065303.pdf) You should get copies of all previous reg docs to see if they ever actually had it registered with 3-axles. The DVLA database is only about 70% accurate and they are rubbish at sorting out errors. The first rule of dealing with them is 'take copies of everything you send them', 2nd rule is 'only deal with the DVLA in writing' and the 3rd rule is 'always get proof of posting'.

my Scamp Special has always had 3 axles and has never been on steriods !!!!!! the DVLA's paperwork states it is a Scamp Special and if you refer to the Scamp brochure a Scamp Special is a 6 wheeler. I have sent photo's and mot's ........ so finger's crossed - all 6 of them.

I would still contact El Presidente because as a member of the Scamp Owners Club you have the backing of a scheme that DVLA have set up for just such a problem as yours.

GOOD NEWS........ been in touch with the DVLA to make sure that they have recieved the paperwork and photo's......and she confirmed they are in the case file ,and also stated that the paperwork had been processed and the V5 now reads SCAMP SPECIAL - 3 AXLE RIGID BODY.
