Re: Here we go again!
Well... the frame was stripped back to nothing, sent for sand blasting and undercoated and the sub frame was powder coated.
Since then, it has been painted, had the body panels refitted - with a little adaptation here and there to make them fit a little better than they did originally (ie no need for 1/2 " of silicone around each) and they have been painted.
New checker plate floor and internal side panels, replaced petrol tank with a newer/less rusty version and the radius arms, stub axles and brake drums refitted.
Crikey, it all sounds so simple and easy on here. Don't know why it has taken us so long!!!!!
Next few jobs - fit seats, steering column, pedals, sub frame refitted etc then I suppose it will need an engine. Apparently I need to get it clean before it will be fitted.
Will it make Stourport...? Well, time is very tight and he really DOES have to go to work - then we seem to be busy next weekend so maybe we will have to take it along to Stourport to get a few extra pairs of hands working on it...

Re: Here we go again!
Lin you still have a few weeks left before you have to go back to work plenty of time to get it finished
ps: I actually got Florence (Jeannette's Mk1 ) on four axle stands ready to start putting the panels on but the garden and house painting took priority and she's back on her side again in the garage - ho hum.

Re: Here we go again!
Well, after being - nearing completion - at Stourport, Tony Phoned me on Thursday to ask me to book Pepe in for MOT...
It's booked for Tuesday. (It's funny, but when I said it was a Scamp the man at the garage said "Oh it's Mrs Scipio is it? - do you think he's getting used to us now?)
By the time I got home, two hours later, he had broken her!!!!!!
He SAYS he was just checking that the speedo worked (in the lock up at no more than 5 miles an hour - yeh, right! ) when the manifold broke! so he has a bit more work to do yet! (Don't tell Nic, but if he hasn't got one here by Monday eve, Daisy will become a donor vehicle )
Fingers crossed everyone!

Re: Here we go again!
As in the acting profession,"break a leg" I think is the expression. Yellow Scamp goes for a hood refurb on Monday as the centre hood bar fixing came away from the hood. £6-800 + Vat for a new hood they quoted,so I think it wil be just the repair then!! Good luck with your MOT though.

£6-800! I think Tony is right - we will be taking Mark's advice and I will be trying to make my my own hood! A half term project I think!

Pepe is now, formally, on the road!!!!
MOT'd, insured and tax disc applied for!!!!
Now, all we need is good weather (still no roof) and I will be out there!

Re: Here we go again!
Congratulations, all your hard work now rewarded.I didn't have a hood for 5 years,it was o.k. until I got stuck on the M11 and it hailed, that hurts!!

Re: Here we go again!
Took Pepe out today - maiden voyage and, like the Titanic... We broke down! Tony towed me home and sorted it out, (pin came out of the gear selector) Tracking also done as I did have a few probs with the steering too.
A much better 2nd trip - so perhaps a little different to the Titanic
At least there was no hail!
Hopefully the next trip will be a little longer and more successful!

Re: Here we go again!
Yellow Scamps maiden voyage was an event,it was in the days when Mot's could be done at any time of day or night.I Mot'd the car at 1 o'clock in the morning with John Halliday as my helper,I got home and had about 2 hours sleep, loaded the Scamp up and was on a boat for France on the 8.30 ferry from Porstmouth to LeHarve.I then ironed out all the snags in France, and there were quite a few,so you are not alone in the few hick-ups on your Scamp's maiden voyage.
