Taz's MOT and a few other bits
Took Taz for MOT last week
Failure - rear radius arm, front inner bushes, handbrake cable and a number plate bulb!
So, he decided to do both rear radius arms and replace both handbrake cables - + other bits. (as the garage quoted us £350)
Once he had everything - including a reaming tool(which was the most difficult bit to get) it only took a day to complete and a total of less than £30 and he passed today! Not bad I suppose - Guess Tony has his uses!!
Much cheaper than the canopy - which Tony took to see if he could get the windows replaced - and we decided that the price difference between a new canopy and the repair made it a nonsense to repair - so, one new canopy later....
Tony has also replaced the black plastic dash with chequer plate - with two cup holders - just to bring him up to the 21st century!
See you all at Stourport (Tony has acquired a scrap metro cos he doesn't want to take Taz off-road anymore!!!!! - wimp!)

Not interested in cup holders, but where did you obtain reamer?
I put a bid in for a pukka mini tool once but it sold for an incredible
sum. A lot more than I dared to bid!

Re: Taz's MOT and a few other bits
We borrowed a set of my brother's adjustable reamers (it's quite useful having a mechanic for a brother at times - particularly one who has been a mechanic since all cars were mechanical rather than computorized!) but Tony has also bought an adjustable reamer from fleebay - just didn't arrive in time to use!!!!!
As for the cup holders - Tony has just rivetted a couple of the holders that come with many of the travel mugs to the dash - well can't get TOO up market can we?! If you really want a pic - I'm afriad it will be a little while cos I'm off to camp for a week with the Guides starting today!!!!! Wish me well! Actually, wish the girls and leaders well - I'm the cook!!!!

Re: Taz's MOT and a few other bits
They have changed the goal posts on the Mot test, things,as before, have got to be absolutely knackered to fail. Many Mot stations do not understand the meaning of "excessive" sometimes. Brakes now do not fail on excessive wear or pitting, the failure criteria for brakes is excessive deterioration now,so,basically,if the disc is not cracked and about to fall off and reaches efficiencies,it passes. With suspension bushes there was a "Matter of Testing" (the official Vosa magazine) that showed that if a suspension bush is held captive either side, even though it may be worn,it is a pass and advise. Another one that has been changed is headlamp beam pattern, the failure criteria is now excessively deteriorated,so,basically,if is below the level mark it passes. However, convincing your Mot men out there, especially the ones that have been testing since the year dot that have their own agenda, that things have moved on.
