HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
Hello fellow Scampers, There are quite a few of you asking how much the Stourport Picnic is. Well as long as the cost of the site, renting the toilets and the cost of the trophys are covered, thats the main thing, isn't it? I don't know all the ins and outs as you lot know I am new to this... After all you lot voted me in this June..
I think the club should charge per adult, which is over 16 year old. There are quite a few members turn up on there own and shouldn't have to pay the same as a family. I think the site and the toilets are about £500 so if there is 35 members its about 15 per head? We don't know how many are attending, so we will see..
I would like to know your views on this, there a saying, you can keep some of the people happy some of the time. But you can't keep all the people happy all of the time.
Take care Rick.

Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
Seeing as we've always taken a car each, that'd be even more of a bargain picnic than we're used to!
Really looking forward to it, however much it is

Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
That seams fair Rick as one year i ended up paying for 4 vehicles and one of those was just the tow car!

If only Gordon Brown listened as well...........
Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
So the cost for us has gone up £10 - not very democratic Rick but at least you have put your foot down with a firm hand - the Copple clan will have to take out a mortgage - don't forget that any non member who attends must join the club to be covered by our third party insurance.

An attempt to 'poll' opinions was made - not many takers!

It still feels fairer to me to pay per person - even though it will probably cost us more that way as we are a family with 4 adults (including that 'hanger on' Chris!
It may also encourage people to bring along their Scamps as well as the tow vehicle - even if they are not intending to off-road. Don't know if that has ever been an issue for people - but it may have been!
It's been said before - It's still a very good value weekend! Roll on Friday
- And I'm sure the 'pres' has ordered the sunshine!

Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
Martin, what gave you the idea it was a democracy? It's a plausable idea but will never be a vote winner.
Anyway, why not charge extra for Caravans? They have heat and light and obviously have a larger carbon footprint than a tent. I think thats an excellent idea.

Has it?Martin & Nettie wrote:So the cost for us has gone up £10
It's actually come down £10 for the 2 of us. Two cars last year cost us £40, Two cars this year £30.
Which ever way you look at it it's still a bargain for a Bank holidays camping..........
Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
Ok what about trailer tents and you brought a motorbike one year thats a vehicle, we have our own toilet and we now have solar panels so what are you doing to reduce your carbon footprint eh, if we don't get 26 cars or 35 people you will still have to pay more cos the shortfall will come out of club funds so every member will be paying for the picnic wether they come or not.

Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
I think its fairer by paying per person. If it works out that it is £15 per person, anyone turning up just for the odd day can pay £5.
What Martin said, everyone will have to be paid members of the club if they are going off-roading as the club insurance only covers members and third parties. Thats enough of the serious stuff.
I hope we are all going to have a great time this weekend plenty of things to do, lets hope the weather is kind. I have ordered the sun shine, Tony lets hope it turns up plus you good a lot of green lanes for us on Sunday..
I have enough stakes now with the offers you sent me, thanks bring them along. Thanks MK3Rob and other members..
Take care Rick.

I can't really see there being a shortfall, can you? But that's even more reason for folks to come along!
Can't we look at using the toliets from the farmer? That'd slash the bill by quite a bit.
E.
P.S We haven't used Stourport loos for years..... we use a portable urinal to pee in, and doggy poop bags for number twos!
Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
Elaine the farmers toilets if you can call them toilets were inspected by Mike Smith earlier in the year and from his description you would not want to do your ablutions in them, why do you think we have a caravan, the reason we started having portaloos at the picnic was for you ladies (some were complaining about having to go out in the middle of the night and dig a hole) and today there are welfare regulations that if the local council paid us a vist might say that a gathering of more than 35 people requires more than two portaloos - perhaps the time has come to look for a new venue for the Picnic i.e. a regular camp site with showers and toilets etc for those that like tents and have a seperate venue for the mud lovers - I will leave it up to our new Pres to lead the way.

Re: HOW CAN WE BE FAIR AT STOURPORT?
We all don't like the thought of portaloos in a field in the middle of a field, but its better that digging a hole. One day we might be on a nice campsite with loos, showers and running hot water. But we need a understanding campsite owner that might want a load of funny cars on his posh site fixing their cars, plus a off-roading site nearby.. Its Stourport for the time being..sorry folks.. We will look into it, a lot of members don't want anything else other that Stourport...
