Has anyone got an original build manual for a Mk3 ? If they don't want to part with it, can I borrow, copy and return...? Cheers, Jono Very Happy

Your having a laugh mister! build manual? whats one of them then? I have only seen a build manual (if you can call a few sketches and a few photostat pages) for a Mk2, do you really need a build manual? rofl

The Scamp was invented in the good old days before VAT, when instead we had a thing called Purchase Tax, which was applied selectively. For example, cars were subject to it at 10%, trucks and vans weren't. Nor were spares.

A complete do-it-yourself car kit would also have been taxable. However, with no build instructions provided or available, your kit was technically a load of spare parts. The only "instructions" that came with my Mk1 were an exploded diagram so all the panels could be identified, and as much information as could reasonably count as sales talk (look how easy it is: apart from normal car maintenance tools you only need a drill, a pop rivetter and a paintbrush - I simplify a bit).

The tradition of omitting any instructions seems to have continued even after April 1973 when VAT was introduced. By which time I had my Scamp kit, and all the tools and new parts I figured I needed.

Well.. in that case this next exercise is going to seriously test the metal of my new "apprentice" I was "kind of hoping" there would at least be a rudimentary guide study to help him out… now I’m going to have to just point to the rather large pile of bits and tell him to "Sort it out" readit …. Me thinks this may take a while weeping … I’m just off to put the kettle on then….

Mk3 Build manual wanted. Combat-jedi1

New apprentice? what happened to the old one?

Bob your scaring me - before VAT, your be saying pre-decimal next, there was nothing wrong with bushels and groats if you ask me! e.g. Now apart from what he needed for his own use, the peasant could only sell 13 bushels of the produce of his hide of land, which, at 18 groats a time, ...

I've got a MK3 build manual somewhere. It constitutes about a dozen sheets of A4 and a isometric sketch of a MK2 (useful when at the time I hadn't ever seen one!). your more than welcome to borow it but it's probably most useful for lighting the fire or emergency loo paper!

Having thought about it the manual was no worse than the panels that came with the kit, which sort of fitted! Maybe the chassis and panels were fabricated from drawing of differing scale! Rolling Eyes

Not like TRR Scamps. Everything fits perfectly, we just used more seam sealant in the gaps. pirat
