New Owner from way across the pond
Hi everyone, Remember that Garish MK 3 on Ebay a few months ago ? The blue one draped with flags, lots of aluminum strips on the roof and hood and shiny diamond plate on the rear sides. Well, I acquired it and am in the process of returning it to more of a "Scamp". My name is Frank and I live in Florida and I have a terrible habit of liking and messing with elderly British Iron. Several Spitfires, A TR 6, A Jensen Healy have invaded my garage and my bank account over the years.....I suspect the Scamp will do the same !
So far, the diamond plate and most of the aluminum strips are gone, as are the huge truck mirrors. Painted it a darker blue and am planning to side the pickup bed with wood strips. Rear window was hazy so the quick and cheap fix was to cover it with a see thru decal of red/white/blue.
I have no idea how it got to these shores, and how it got to be legally titled .........
And So It Begins (you would think I would have learned by now)

Re: New Owner from way across the pond
Hi Frank,
Welcome to the madhouse
I love hearing about Scamps an Minis that have made it across to the States, if only they could talk. I bet the cars would have a tale to tell.
I'm glad you're de-blinging the Scamp. Please feel free to put loads of photos of the car and your handy work on the forum.

Hi from a another newish owner.
From the picture I spotted it looks a pretty tidy car and you certainly have better weather for them where you are.
Look forward to seeing a few more pictures of it now you have made it yours.

Re: New Owner from way across the pond
Welcome Frank
The only one I know with any American connection was owned by a USAF airman, who was based in Suffolk a few years back.
Maybe he had it shipped back on a C17 or similar.

Re: New Owner from way across the pond
Should we do what Marcos did and have Scamp Owner's Club International as a separate wing of the club? Only joking,great to see another Scamp in the US so welcome,there used to be a Mk1 over there but we havn't heard from that one for some years.Mine did make it accross the pond in picture form;

Florida Frank's Scamp
Here is one of several pix of the wood work in progress, as well as the rest of it too. Can't seem to assign and transfer IMG codes for the others in photobucket. Perhaps the sun has fried my brain !

Thats looking good. I have problems with photobucket sometimes. It doesn't always seem to work as it's supposed to.
Interesting to see the wheels yours has, they look like the ones I will be using. Mine came from Mini Spares here in the UK.
