Hi
My name is Josh i am a 17 year old apprentice mechanic and mad about minis i own 2 normal minis my pride and joy 4,000 mile ritz show car and my 19,000 mile shed city project which will also in a few months be my daily drive once completed and have passed my test. now i saw scamps at himley hall mini show and thought i want one so this will be my next project once my city is done and a garage has been sourced what i plan is a mk2/mk3 scamp requiring a resto which will take me a couple of years to do properly i plan on putting a 1.8 kseries in.
a couple of questions i have:
. how easy would it be to put a late style metro k series sub frame in a scamp
. can i still run it on mini wheels as i have seen some nice 13" ones
. what should i be paying for a project scamp
. what should i be looking for when buying a scamp

if there is anybody else in the derbyshire area when i have passed my test would love to come and have a look at one close up.

Thanks Josh

Hi Josh

Welcome to the forum.

The nearest to you are Elaine and Robin Grayson who live at Hope Valley (where ever that is), they have a 6 wheeler that there son (about your age) who is refurbing it.

Your best bet if your free is to come along to the Newark Kit Car show this weekend, where we will all be. We have a Club stand and will be there from Friday evening until Sunday evening.

Regards Rob

Welcome Josh,

In answer to your questions;

1- if you can use a sabre saw and a welder, dead easy.
2- K-series metro & Mini PCD are different - so not easy!
3- Scamps range from free to about £1500-£1800 for the best of the best (and some crap on fleabay). It's worth joining the Scamp Club as members tend to sell their scamps to other members by word of mouth.
4- That it is correctly registered. anything esle is fixable.
