Re: Stourport 2009
I have just read Rick's post after I sent mine - sort it out amongst yourselves but don't forget that there are around 70 members and not just the handfull of members that use the forum, lets hope you get as many or hopefully more at the pub meet to ensure that a fair descision is made - I don't give camels tail as long as we collect enough money over the weekend to pay the farmer and a decent barbeque can be laid on and of course someone is nominated to be on the gate all day to collect the money and answer all the excuses like "I'm only here for the day", or I'm not going offroading - and then you see them in the passenger seat of someones Scamp having a whale of a time - good luck

Re: Stourport 2009
Do it by weight ! Weigh everyone before the start and then at the end..... Those that weigh more have obviously been enjoying the food and beer side of the event and should be charged £10 per pound gained.... those who weigh less have obviously been running around enjoying themselves and therefore should be charged £10 per pound lost... those that remain the same should be charged £20 for parking..
Hope this helps.....

Err Yes
I was married with four daughters, so when a female hand is stuck out asking for money i just pay up
As one of the singles (person, tent, Scamp) i dont mind the method now.

Re: Stourport 2009
Ok… how about separating the barbecue cost out? £5 /Adult and £3/Sprog…unless they’re bloomin’ greedy sprogs…Can do it by "pre-booking" and tickets, that way the food budget is covered and enough food can be purchased… excellent show last year, by the way. Then we can be sure of costs being covered.
Then £15 buys you a campsite pitch and gives you access to the site for the whole weekend. A sticker for your Scamp…if you have one.
One-day pass is £10
Additional vehicle that belong to SOC members and go off-road can buy a sticker for a further £10 as long as they are driven by SOC members or their family…and the vehicle has been approved by… "Da Management"..
That way MK3 Rob turns up on his tod, camps for the whole weekend and stuffs his face at the Sunday barbecue and pays £30.
I turn up with Jo, camp ..yeah, yeah, I know… and we both stuff our faces £25.
If I decide to bring another vehicle as well as a Scamp and let Jo drive…Naaah..ain’t gonna happen…. but that would be £35
Family of four turns up… one vehicle for bringing the kids and gear one Scamp and all stuff their faces… £31…can reduce to £15 if they don’t partake of the barbecue to save money.
Non-members who turn up to be excluded from the site….unless they stump up £13 membership then either £15 for weekend or £10 for day…and only if they are in Scamp or other "similar" vehicle
Suitability of other vehicles and non-members could be judged on the day… the Management’s decision would be final!
I am quite happy to volunteer to "police" this…..or any other method....Jo could collect the money...she's really very good at that sort of thing
...although I still like my "by weight" idea best....

Re: Stourport 2009
My vote goes to Rick's all adults pay, seems the simplest way to collect.
That way anyone whether SOC member or not has to pay to enter the field.....
Stourport isn't just about the off roading it's a social event.

Re: Stourport 2009
I was waiting for someone to put someone forward Jono you have picked the short straw (by someone else) I second that motion - and your big enough to tell troublemakers to p**s off Stourport would be a good grounding for you - let see if you get enough votes - we have booked the site its up to the club to collect enough to pay for the weekend - good luck

We could do with some for the Scamp 40th at Newark.
Only those who attend are eligible to get the sticker, incentive to go.
Banners anyone??????? Another discussion point at the Pub do.

Not everyone is going to be happy
Hello fellow Scampers,
Like Martin, James, and other people said on this post. However the money is collected to fund this event, isnt going to please everyone, but if you was to go anywhere you would be paying addmisson fee, per person wouldnt you? Like I said earlier in this post, why should someone like Chris Yates pay the same as a large family. We should wait and have a vote at the AGM Newark?
Because we arent going to keep everyone happy are we????
P.S The sticker thing Mac said we should have some printed up, I still got my 30th Birthday one..That showing off..

Yep I agree......I think the per person charge has a lot of merit.....but whatever we all decide it needs to be clear well in advance of the event.....so the are no "issues" at the time of payment.
Whoops.
Looks as though we have opened a can of worms. Didn't mean to cause any trouble.
Sorry.
I think that this is a sensible discussion ....no trouble caused !

If we use this basis ......I will be selling EX-Lax, Senokot, and my own special brew of Guiness and Prunes -also known as a "Powerdriver".
You too can have a weekend where the bottom falls out of your world (or should that be the world falls out of your bottom)

Re: Stourport 2009
Just my $0.02 worth...
However it's done, it's going to be either complicated or a compromise.
A flat rate per car has its merits. If you need more than one car to accommodate your family group then presumably there's a lot of you, so having to pay the extra doesn't seem altogether unfair. And those trailering their Scamps have the comfort of knowing that at least they can get them home again, so could philosophically regard the extra as breakdown insurance...
A flat rate per adult also has its merits. Separate rates for adults, kids, growing kids with huge appetites, barbie tickets etc. would make it less of a compromise but more complicated. It's also easier to spend more if you do it piecemeal...
A point as yet unmentioned is whether day-trippers should pay less. Although sometimes falling into this category myself, personally I don't think so. The facilities still cost the same to provide, and it's good encouragement to stay for the whole weekend.
There's probably no one solution that will please everybody, but we're not really grumbling are we? Thanks to Martin and Nettie for the hard work - we do appreciate you really.

Re: Stourport 2009
Thanks Bob a little appreciation goes a long way, I have been looking ways to collect the money
Perhaps we need one of these?
Or nick one of these?
But you might end up with this?
Or this?
Perhaps we go all high tech with this?
I am sure it will be fine, I was thinking we could print tickets and people could pre-pay so no money would have to be collected on the day - but some members make their mind up on the day before by looking at their seaweed or what crabs are doing on the beach to see what the weather will be doing - at least its booked and you can all sort out the finer points amongst yourselves, the more important do is the Scamp's 40th at Newark which James has started to organize - please give him your full support

Re: Stourport 2009
Sorry just to put in my bit - As a family of mainly adults, I think paying per adult seems fairest. (mind you, I think we brought a car each as well last year - OOps!
I think we all agree on one thing, we know, whatever decision is made, everyone will pay up happily knowing that they are getting lots for their money anyway.

Re: Stourport 2009
Looks like they had fun.
I kept telling Reg to get some mud tyres for off-roading his Monster (to replace the very worn set of gravel tyres that it's ran since the word go), but every year he just said 'While it still performs okish on these, I'll carry on using 'em' In other words he's too tight to buy any......... Maybe he'll go for some for his Audi Turbo beast of a Scamp????
January would be ok by us, not sure we'd camp though!

I remember suggesting a few years ago that we should have a Wales holiday in February - seemed like a good way to guarantee some snow...
