No joke, Rob, just optimism having an edge over commercial realism. That looks one of the tidiest Scamps I've seen in a long time, and I think if I were selling it I would be hoping for that sort of money. Not sure if that level of starting bid is the best way to go about it though. BTW my notes from when it was last on e-Bay in 2011 say "optimistic price after rebuild" - wonder if this chap was the successful bidder?

Check out the specification though. Acres of chequer plate, tuned 1275 engine etc. Nice touch with the speedo cable routing. A couple of faults though: a big bore exhaust (more noise, no performance), and the suspension evidently needs sorting.

RTT beat me to it! I don't think that's an unrealistic price for getting a usable correctly registered MOT'd vehicle. TBH I don't think Ebay is the place to sell a road legal running Scamp. This MK2 made just over £3k at a specialised classic car auction in June:

I expect the commission etc is a bit more then Ebay listing costs but the final price is more too.

I would say that any tidy scamp with a quick engine is worth 2 and a bit grand of anyones money for starters even more so if it is a tax exempt example.

You try getting a mini for that,on which the body work wont deteriorate within a few years of use.

It's a sure thing that prices are on their way up. and about time too.

The days of paying a couple of hundred quid for a Scamp are long gone. Well, almost gone  Wink

Actually worked this out - sad I know!

Ebay would cost £35 and would probably make £1k to £1.5k, Maybe £1.8k on a really good day.

Auction house in the link above would charge £480 but sold for £3k.
