Just put my Mark III on ebay
Hello All,
Just a quick post to let you know I've finally bit the bullet and put my much loved but sadly neglected Mark III on ebay. Here it is:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Scamp-Mark-III-kit-car-/390561690643?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item5aef4a7413
If anyone is interested let me know.
Cheers
Rupert

Re: Just put my Mark III on ebay
Hi Rupert,
That's a very well-presented and informative e-Bay listing!
I'm intrigued by the petrol gauge problem. In 1964, there were major changes to the Mini, including to the electrical system, and using a pre-'64 gauge with a post-'64 sender or vice versa would give the same effect. To find out which gauge it is, disconnect the sender and turn on the ignition: the early gauge will then show Full and the later one Empty (which may give you a clue why they made the change). However in your case I think it's more likely that the sender has been fitted upside down.
My workaround would be to get some fine brushes and model enamel, remove the gauge from the back of the speedo, and carefully change the E to an F and the F to an E.

Re: Just put my Mark III on ebay
Hi Rum,
Thanks for your compliments and your advice! I think both the gauge and the sender came from the donor vehicle, and as you say it's probably just fitted upside down. I don't think I'm going to have time to have a fiddle with it before next weekend when the auction ends though, :-( but I am going to print out your thoughts and include them with the V5 for the new owner. Hopefully whoever it is can post an update on the forum!
