This one is really for the Wezgit or Adam, but might be off interest to others.
Is there a max distance that the towball is allowed to stick out from the bumper.
I have just fitted (bodged) my old Cavalier towbar onto my Astra, but it is sticking out from the bumper by 19cm which looks double what it should be i think.

I think that any over hang on a vehicle has to have some sort of warning attached - example warning triangle attached to ladders. There is a cover for a towbar with a red reflector built in, to warn. Best thing is to ring your local trailer place and ask the legal requirements......... and still put the reflector cover on it to keep Mr policeman happy ! Hope that helps ?

I have a removable tow bar (swan neck?) fitted on an astra 4. I will check the distance when I get home.
