Highlight of the week: An impromptu guided tour of the Ginetta Cars factory. Speechless, every car lovingly assembled in white-room conditions.

Lowlight: My new scamp not turning up as when the vendor went to start it to bring it over and it wouldn't start.

Apparently, after some examination, it has completely seized.

I'm still really keen to get it but I don't have time for a big mechanical project at the moment. (New baby in a few weeks and new kitchen in the mean time!)

Therefore, does anyone have a 1l engine they can vouch for that they'd like to sell and if so for how much (Please PM me!)

Any guidance on what I should expect to pay if I wanted to get the replacement engine fitted would be appreciated?

Thanks, Si

Si

Good question!!

I didn't think so as he went to great lengths to explain what had happened but wasn't sure until I saw the advert:

Thanks again for offering to help.

Going back to the Ginetta factory tour, where is their factory exactly. At the Le-mans 24 hr last year there were 3 Ginetta's flying the flag, the LMP2 car I think caught light the orange factory entered LMP1 car had an issue with wheels coming loose and retired, but the "Relentless" sponsered one finished all be it quite a few laps behind the leaders, but for a prototype in LMP1 class it was quite an acheivement. I tried to blag a photo shoot along with one of them but security would not have aloud us anywhere near.

The factory is based near Leeds. The whole show is owned by Lawrence Tomlinson as a division of LNT, primarily a care home construction company.

It's a really cool place, one minute you're talking about construction details on the next care home, the next you walk out of the main office directly onto the shop floor where they have production, all the current cars, race lorries and the remains of this one...!

I understand Mansell also drives their car for the Le Mans series.
