Yeah, I'm up for that (if the Karts aren't crap!)
PFI near Fulbeck (near Newark) is excellent if you've not already found a place.

James,
i didnt think that you used the words 'fun and racing' in the same sentence.
What chance do mere mortals have against the Whitwick Racers

Well we've already won if you start off with that attitude!
Racing/Rallying is always fun, otherwise there'd be no point doing it. That said, there's no excuse for not putting in the effort and being as competitive as you can be!
Seriously though, i've struggled getting into Karting as the technique is so different from piloting a Rally Car. I'm getting there bit by bit but i'm used to more power than grip and Karts bog down out of the corners if you try the completely sideways style I know & love (unless it's wet of course ).
Reg is the one you have to watch in a Kart. He's 4 stone wet through and knows how to drive the thing.

.......and on that basis....guess what threat I pose in a cart?

It's actually Elaine you need to watch out for, she's pretty quick.....
Re: anyone fancy go karting!!!
Perhaps there should be some sort of handicap system i.e. those that are skinny/lightweight, those that are fit and the rest of us bordering in being clinically obese and perhaps further penalaties for those that have had many hours on the track i.e. potential Stig's and the rest of us - trouble is that would throw up a formual more complcated than the one for working out what to charge everyone at the the Picnic - so it would probably be fairer if we had some sort of qualifying like F1 so that those with similar ability race in heats of similar drivers - but all that costs money - it would depend on how may were intested and how much for a session etc.
Whatever is agreed it would be a funday out and another event on next years calendar

Re: anyone fancy go karting!!!
Count me in. I'm sure if me and Jono can get the front row of the grid we can make two karts wide enough not to pass
It's been a few years since I drove one but I used to be able to pedel my little 175cc quite quickly some days.
As James has already said there is PFI or there's Ancaster. I guessing though that the one at Newark is likely to be favourite, or there is the indoor one here in Lincoln. But I'm sure there are others that can suggest other sites around the country.

RE:Any One Fancy Go Karting?
Hello there i just thought i would add a few to the karting list. There is Ancaster like chas suggested, Formular 1 at burton on the wolds-indoor with a ramp ive run a few there, works events etc. On the far side of leicestershire is Stoughton karting,( i would vote this one) next to Stoughton airfield. The Old Six hills (nottingham raceway) karting centre out doors.(i worked there when i was 20!) must of been the only person to of raced a mk4 cortina around the track in my plastic pig!! would of beat him had the pig not have fallen over at the chicane! ( I blame the crossplies) The one at Foston off the A1, wont allow the sort of quality drivers our club may have!. A corperate event at formular 1 was about £30 each at 25 drivers, Any more you lot can think of 4x4 Rob.

Andrew,
I think it's better if you tell us where and when rather than the other way around. Otherwise it'll never get it organised.
